I use Avast and am pleased to say they give it a good report. It tends to slow things down quite a lot when doing a check.

I used to be an IT engineer and analyst but after several years, discovered office life was killing me. Got SAD syndrome in the middle of summer!

McAfee was always trying to tell you that you needed to spend more and more to be fully protected. Norton wasn't so bad in that sense but would grind even new PCs down to a halt... eats system resources for breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper and midnight munchies plus some more.

Bullguard is cheap, lightweight and reliable but Kaperspky is the best IMO... incredibly powerful and runs so smoothly in the background - and you can get it almost free. Just open a basic Barclays account with internet banking option, put a few pence in the account and you get a couple of licences free (PC, iPad, phone etc), or 5 licenses for an extra £6.00.
