I have some plants on ebay that i am selling and although i have my settings for uk only I had a bid from someone in austria checked with ebay and they said it is because they have a primary mailing adress in the uk so should be ok. But before i checked with ebay i was checking out couriers and they all say that plants are prohibited and will not take them, hence why i panicked and contacted ebay, as we are at present suposed to free travel in europe why not the plants ????? :what:

Easy. its not the plants that you cant send, but the soil the plants are in. Bare rooted plants can be sent to Europe, but as far as I am aware (and may be wrong) even these cannot be sent by private people.

Even if the buyer has a primary UK mailing address, its probably an offence for you to send them anyway.

According to ebay they would go to the UK address as that is the one they have so I would only be sending to uk hopefully will have rethink if it's Austria and go back to ebay and cancel the sale

In that case lable it "Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens" and put Attn. Von Trap family.

So basically you cant send anything that remotely looks like a plant or part of one.
Now is this to do with government restrictions or just the good old post office being awkward??

I thought there were EU rules?
Or maybe Austria don't abide by them?
