Today I found this strange-looking "blob" in my garden. I have never seen anything like it before and have no idea what it is. It is about 8 cm long and 3 cm across and is very soft and sort of mushy. It is on top of a stone and in full sun. It doesn't look particularly "friendly", but I shall leave it alone until I know what it is! Please help!!!

Looks like it could be slug or snail eggs, though never seen anything as large as that.

If you google 'snail eggs on plants' and view the images, they look similar.

Fascinating stuff - interestingly, although it is as unsightly as dog vomit, it actually does no harm, and can even be helpful :phew:..... live and learn... :)

Slime mold, that's definitely it! :ideaIPB: Never heard of it before. Sounds revolting and looks even worse..... dog's vomit describes it perfectly :frown:! I read Sonya's link, really weird stuff. I had to rush out just now to check it's progress, in case it had walked off somewhere. It still looks exactly the same and yippee, it has duplicated, another one nearby...... although that could have been there yesterday without me noticing!
Thank you all for your input, another problem solved! :)
