Burrowhayes looks like a nice spot. I’ll be touring again next year for the first time in years, so might well try it for a few days.

Roll on Spring I say, can't be doing with all the Christmas stuff, but I have to as I have my 11 year old grandaughter living here.

Our 12 year granddaughter wants to live with us. Sadly for her, her parents don't share her enthusiasm. I'm sure the novelty would soon wear off. It would also be a long walk to school (about 8 miles on main trunk roads).

        :snorky:

In our house we celebrate winter solstice on the 25th, with a family get together, exchanging of gifts and sharing of a meal.

We used to celebrate on actual solstice day but we had a king that everyone was scared of once. He got the date slightly wrong and nobody dared to tell him.

Spend the night at the bottom of the garden tending a bonfire, watched by mildly angry boar, deer, hares, stoats, martens and coypu??? No thanks! I'll take a chance on the sun. According to the forecast it's coming back tomorrow:cool:

Don't think so :dunno:. I've looked out the window! I'm getting messages from my solar panels asking when the sun is coming back again.

@Freddy I can thoroughly recommend Burrowhayes as Julian and Marion are such lovely people and if you have any problems with pitching or anything else then Julian is straight on to it and all the times we have been to this site we have had an enjoyable stay.Julian even shakes hands with us like old friends when we arrive something we have never had at any other sites we have stayed on over the years.

Just wish we could have been down there the other week when they had the snow as it would have made our stay even better:smile:

@Scrungee We have walked many times past that flood monitoring system when we walk along the road up to Horner Wood.In the horse photo I have ridden the Piebald on the end of the line and have also ridden Lordy but can’t remember the name of the other one I have ridden:biggrin:
