No link between alcohol and depression

I have been quite open about it over the years on here. To be honest I think that it is harder on those close to me.

Truth be told it was easy to avoid people poking their noses in by convincing them that it was a one off event as a result of circumstances. I tried all sorts of help over the years, CBT being the most useful. Ultimately though the turning point came when I was having a dark day and it all became clear - this is how it is so stop fighting it, accept it for what it is and move on. So I'm still a miserable sod who has dark moments but they pass much quicker without me tying my head up in knots. Basically just a tailored take on CBT.
Maybe if I'd accepted meds it may have helped but if I'm being honest I dislike the effect that they've had on people that I know, including my brother.

 

So as I'm really good at being a miserable sod does that mean that I'm almost perfect!

I would say that, depending what stage of alcohol addiction you are at, it can definitely affect your mood.
