I do like the sound of this idea. I know that its been bandied about for some time but do hope this is one of our future solutions that proves successful

IKEA unveils its Plans for Mushroom-Based Packaging - MINI PAK'R
There’s an increasing number of alternatives to plastic packaging as the market becomes more aware and concerned about sustainable practices. With that in mind, companies and researchers are looking high and low for innovative inspiration. In IKEA’s case, their answer to replacing polystyrene packaging might as well have been hiding under a log. No, we’re not talking about wood, but mushroom fibers.

While I agree about too much plastic, why the "sudden" worry??
Wonder what the media will be banging on about next month when plastic has gone out of fashion.

Quite an amusing thought really ; just imagine if all plastic were to disappear instantly !!!!!!...............Mobile phones , cars , every household appliance , computers , TVs , aircraft , ships ...etc etc , would literally fall to pieces . Everything we take for granted nowadays would be gone !
Plastic in the worlds oceans is set to triple in the next ten-years , what then ??
Looked inside the cockpit of a late 1930s Lancaster bomber last year in Lincolnshire ; what seemed immediately apparent and almost strange ?.... no plastic whatsoever !
Wooden switches , metal and glass dials and a leather pilots seat ; seemed bizarre , but we used to manage without the accursed stuff .
