For those of you coming up from a southerly direction (M25- M11 Junction 7 etc.) then a better way to come is to avoid Sawbridgeworth (small town that can be a bit busy, level crossing that can take anything from zero extra time to 20 minutes).

When travelling past Harlow on the A414 turn right onto the B183 (signposted Hatfield Heath)

(Satnav:- add Sheering as a way point - it's the village across the field at the back of us).

You go straight through the village and approach Hatfield Heath. Just as you reach the 40 mph sign you turn left into Pond Lane. At end of Pond Lane turn left and keep left when road forks. We're half a mile along that road.

@Zigs from where you're staying (Green Man?), turn right out of hotel and follow road to end. Turn left and you're on the B183. In previous times you may have taken the left turn down the country road, when the B183 makes a sharp right bend (Rod Stewart lives just by that corner). Although that road is shorter, by 200yds, it has a lot of potholes.

Coming from the north come off M11 at Junction 8. Turn left towards Takeley (B1256) but don't get into either of the two left hand lanes at the top end of the slip road as they will take you into the airport. Once off the roundabout, about 50yds, turn right opposite petrol station towards Great Hallingbury. Through Gt Hallingbury and at end (about three miles) turn left into Little Hallingbury. As you approach Hatfield Heath turn right into a short lane immediately before a big road sign to Sawbridgeworth. At end of lane (100yds) turn right and we're half a mile along the road.

@Snorky85 If you come on the M25/M11 then follow above. If you come on A414 you might just as well follow satnav through High Wych and Sawbridgeworth. In Sawbridgeworth, at mini roundabout, turn right on Station Road and we're about 2 miles on that road (across level crossing and straight on).

If you're on our road you won't miss us doesn't matter which way you come. :snorky:

Thanks @shiney I'll get the route programmed into the nav tonight.

Really looking forward to it. Let's hope it's good weather! :)

I see Zigs has updated our status as we move toward Shineyland time. We are staying at a lovely B&B. Well I booked for breakfast with my room as I've never had an "English" breakfast and am looking forward to it. I believe Zigs opted out on his.

I'm quite excited about meeting other GCers and am pleading with Mother Nature to keep watering the plants at Shineyland but stop short when it comes to people arriving! Hopefully she will humour me.

Hi @CanadianLori I'm sure that you will enjoy your high calorie fat inducing English breakfast :snorky:. As Zigs is veggie he is unlikely to have the same :heehee: although some places do the veggie equivalent.

The rain is scheduled to stop between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. today and a slight possibility of rain early tomorrow.

If you're not travelling on the motorways you should have an interesting drive. I guess you will be travelling North around London and not taking the southerly route as you will have to pay the Dart Toll - and it has to be paid online (a nuisance). It was much easier when you could pay cash at the crossing.

That would take you past Oxford but don't know whether you will have time to stop there or just drive in and around the town.

The kettle will be loaded and waiting this afternoon. :blue thumb:

Still peeing down - as per forecast. :)

Back home after work, will be labeling up the Big Zac tomatoes for shineyland along with a "Gigantomo" tomato plant and a couple of "Manx Marvels".

I'm hoping on a premium price on all of the above tomatoes due to their rarity over here on these shores........ and lets face it, all the proceeds are going to a very good cause?

Prepared to swap the Gigantomo for an all female cucumber from a GC member and I'll donate another bit to the charity coffers. :)
