Gosh @pete - those looked big plumeria -you've depressed me now! If mine don't flower in the next year or two, I think I'll have to give up.
@strongylodon - yes, I keep mine in house over winter - but if they get too big it will be a problem.

@noisette47 said: "Hymenosporum flavum is a lovely, easy-to-grow, little tree with wonderfully perfumed flowers. You could almost convince yourself that you didn't really want frangipani anyway"...

In fact, it's known as 'Native frangipani'... If these seeds are a dead loss (although they have now sprouted above the surface of the soil) I'll go to the Hymenosporum next - !!

Actually, it will grow in the UK, even outside, although it won't reach the height it would in Australia. Apparently there is one in Kentish Town, London, but it was badly hit by frost in 2012... they will grow up to around 1000m above sea level. Although I don't actually ever go that high. Vertigo. It can be a curse, you know. Being 4' 10", I get dizzy on a kerb..... :loll:

Well mine wont grow outside then,;) tried it one year and it was badly damaged at the first real frost.
Had to bring it in before it completely lost it.
And it wasn't a particully hard winter.
I think with London or any big city you get a certain amount of artificial heat around, so not typical for the usual climate of that area.

Hello again..sorry my forum access is very intermittent at the moment! I'll try to catch up...
@CarolineL and @TaraMaiden I chucked the last poor, lifeless stump of Plumeria today. I know when I'm beaten. H. flavum seed isn't easy to track down nowadays. If mine set seed I'd send you some, but it's sterile. I think I found it on E-Bay in the end.
@pete I grew a H flavum in the conservatory in Northants. It was heavily scented. The latest one spends the winter under an overhanging roof, swathed in fleece when it gets cold. It's scenting the terrace as I type :) Will try to post some photos but they're just over the size limit, so I may be some time.....

              Hi Taramaiden ,

If you get Vertigo you should get it sorted. It is nothing to do with heights at all ( urban myth i'm afraid ) but a problem with either the inner ear or part of the brain.

Thank you and bless you for your concern, but I was merely joking... I have no problem with heights...my husband however, is really totally averse to them, and he really hates them - I keep telling him the fall won't kill him, and as long as he can avoid hitting the ground at the bottom, he'll be fine....! His son, curiously has the 'reverse' problem. He gets dizzy and nauseated by looking UP heights....!

                ...UPDATE:

Well, all but two of the Plumeria seeds have sprouted, and once planted, have shot up considerably. Currently looking very healthy living on my West- and South-facing window sills, but the sunny blast we have been enjoying lately, seems to be taking a back seat at the moment, so the temperatures have dropped correspondingly....
