                      Sorry about the brief visit this morning but things are a bit hectic here. A good friend, one of my bridge partners, suffered a massive heart attack on Friday night whilst we were at the bridge club. One moment we were playing a hand and the next he was slumped over. No prior warning at all.

                      We started CPR immediately and the medics arrived within 10 minutes - one ambulance and two other emergency vehicles. They worked on him for an hour, then took him to the local hospital and at 1.30 a.m. rushed him to a specialist cardio-vascular ward at the other side of the county. They put in a stent and said he was gravely ill (still unconscious) and had no more than a 50-50 chance. They haven't been able to do any further tests on him as they were keeping his temperature very low. They were expecting to let the temperature rise today so that they could do the test but think he may also have brain damage. I've been out most of the day so haven't heard anything since.

                      He also helps me run the bridge clubs and is our computer expert. We run the bridge sessions with mini computers on each table and they need to be set up before each session. Fortunately, two weeks ago I got him to run some lessons for two other committee members on how to set up the machines and run them.

                      He also runs a number of other things with me. I've been sending out emails and having loads of phone calls trying to make sure that the clubs continue to run smoothly. I also have a committee meeting set for most of the day tomorrow and shall now have to rearrange the jobs that were needing to be done as we organised most of the things together.

                      So I may not be around much for some days. :noidea:
