Having ordered a load of veg seed and a plum tree from Mr Fothergills, after ten days wait it dawned on me that I wouldn't get the seeds until March when they say bare rooted fruit trees are sent and when they would mail the whole order.
I was in a particular hurry to get some "Sparta" tomato seed (great flavour and good resistance to virus) and as far as I can find Fothergills have a monopoly on this and I really need to sow some before the end of this month for an early crop.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I discovered "Podingtons" who sell Mr Fothergill seeds - never heard of them before. Sent in an internet order on Tuesday and seeds arrived Wednesday!!! Furthermore though seeds were same price as on Fothergills site, postage was FREE and they sent me a free pen to boot!

    Very happy chappie:D

Hi Dave, are you talking about Podington's of Rushden by any chance?Thery are our favorite Nursery and we have been a customer of theirs for a good twenty years, mainly by visiting the Nursery, though now we have moved further away it is a bit of a trek for us.

A lot of our friends say the plants are expensive but we have found they do a smaller version of the same plant so in that way we buy more of them.As we don't drink as many bottles of plonk a week as our friends do and we are both non smokers then we occassionaly go mad and have a spend up and have got most of our garden plants from there. At least the plants last a lot longer than the drink and fags do:D

Hope you have great sucess with your tomato seeds this year:)

    Hi Kandy
I've had to look at the invoice to check the address - It's Poddington Wellingborough, Northhants.
