New Posts never used to show my own posts and I'd have to select Recent Posts or Your Content to find them. But this morning after posting, my post appeared at the top of the New Posts list.

Has a setting (or the forum software) been changed?

P.S. Strangely, this post does not appear on the New Posts list, but my earlier one did.

P.P.S. What caused this (on 5/12/18)?

The new posts display can lag behind, and that is not something that is specific to this forum either, I have noticed it on other forums. Although the software hasn't changed (that I know of), I did quite a bit of work on the database caches following some problems that had surfaced, mostly relating to images (photo comp winner on the main forum page and @roders signature being two that immediately spring to mind); I have a feeling (and it is only that, as I have resolved it without proving the theory) that there was a bit of instability in the server database, and looking at your image that would concur as it appears that the style sheet has failed to load and you have been presented with the underlying XML

The only way I can think of normally seeing one's own recent post at the top of the New Posts list would be if logged in as another user, and I was wondering if what happened might not be the problem, but a symptom of another problem? But GC was showing me as logged in as myself.

When you are referring to the New Posts list, are you referring to the sidebar on the right under the photo comp winners image?

Here, after a few minutes, it has refreshed and I can see my own post:

Ah, I never use that so cannot comment. However, my theory stands true that there is an instability in the server or the database, and that is causing some foibles. I will have another go at it, but it won't be this weekend I'm afraid as I have slipped a disc at the base of my neck and cannot sit and use the PC for too long at a spell or the pain just becomes unbearable. I promise I will get back to it as soon as I can.

Thanks @john558 - the pain killers seem to be holding it at bay. Usually when this happens, it is a case of waiting for it to have a good old crack to itself, and it pops back (hopefully before Christmas)

I occasionally get my own posts showing when I push the "new posts" button.

Cant say I've ever found it to be a problem.;)

I'd actually prefer it to always work that way, but when something happens different to how it should, it may be an indication that something is a little awry, and might cause problems.

Its been happening from months for me, but only occasionally, I've usually checked if I've been logged out but no.
I think it's just one of those things.
Technology is far from perfect IMO so I just take it as normal.

It's happened again, also with an early morning first post [1], and this time I was ready to take a screenshot:

[1] And once again, this second post does not appear in the list of New Posts, just the first one.

I am not entirely surprised @Scrungee, as I haven't yet gotten round to restoring the server caches to try and resolve the problem. Whilst it is not a guaranteed fix, I promise I will get to it as soon as I can
