Ex-Lib Dem leader Paddy Ashdown dies aged 77

That’s a shame, I really liked Paddy. Always talked a lot of sense, imo.

I liked him also,although I hold no political interest. I believe he was an EX Royal Marine Commando.

 

He was probably the best leader the liberals have had in my lifetime.
Always seemed like a decent bloke, and down to earth.

 

He's probably the last of the non-career politicians. By which I mean he had a life outside of politics. Most of them these days are - PPE at Uni, job as an intern, assistant to politician, politician. They rarely step outside the bubble.

 

Just been browsing you tube. Celebs who died in 2018. Paddy is listed as having died from bladder cancer. Poor old lad. I have bladder cancer and in my case thankfully I have no pain. I was diagnosed foure years ago. I have nothing but praise for my urololgical team. I am booked in for surgery 8/1/19. My fourth operation in the same number of years.To be honest. My fears of the disease are now past. I have studied medicine and have always been amazes at how the human body responds. Sadly, despite all the charities etc, like also the heart foundations etc. Sadly for many of us, this is the end of the road.

 

I'm sorry to hear this mike,and I will be thinking about you, this being your fourth you .my dear dad succumbed to the big C . Being on my own it really hit me.please come back hear to chat if possible
