@Snorky85 Good that you have found a nursery that is local and have been given plenty of information plus a good deal which always helps and yes always good to give local trade your custom which keeps them going.I wasn’t sure where in Buckinghamshire you lived so wasn’t sure which nursery was the nearest to you.Hope you get sorted...

Apàrt from watering plants in gh, no actual work in the garden but plans firming up in my head. :noidea:
Talking to a former weatherman on local radio he said a bitter cold spell is "very likely" at the end of the month according to a whole host of technical data. Could eclipse last year's Beast from the East. :love30: Nah! It will be mild and dry :hapydancsmil:
Anyway, a gorgeous day here after a chilly start.......around 10 degrees I think:)

Lovely day here today but very very cold. Only been out to get bird food. Feel too down to do anything else today.

Edit: Forgot that I pruned back the bramley apple tree today.

Glued two glazing panels back into the greenhouse frame - not a neat job at all - sealant all over the panels - but then I don't suppose that the plants will complain (I do need a new larger greenhouse but am constantly skint :frown:).

Swept up, some pruning, put some bird food out and moved the exterior light to cover the patio - should stop me walking into the patio furniture each Saturday night :ccheers:.

My 7cm pots arrived today - they look like they will stand up to a couple of years usage - time will tell.

Looking forward to longer days and warmer weather :hotsun:- Spring can't come soon enough.

BE4D46C6-A4EE-4DEC-A102-E62C0FD9A678.jpeg Went off to our local Wyevale GC hoping to find some onion sets but apart from sale items as they are trying to get rid of all the Xmas stuff there were no onion sets or even potatoes so we left there and after parking outside the GC we walked across the road and had a nice 3 & a 1/4 mile walk round the wood where is used to play when I was a kid:biggrin:

Back home we had lunch then I wrapped up to do some tidying of the grass verge border getting rid of stray weeds and adding compostround the roots of cowslips and primulars that had their roots exposed then watering them so that they don’t dry out.Mr Kandy was working with his tile cutter outside the garage giving some of the floor tiles a bit of a trim ready for sticking and laying on the conservatory floor:biggrin:

I am also finding clumps of sunflower seeds that a mouse is cashing in my borders which it is pinching from my bird tables. Now we are cat less the mice are having a field day feeding on the bird food:sad:

Also got introduced by a lovely pup which is a Hungarian Pumi (not Puli). We are smitten but the problem is they are a bit of a yappy dog, high maintenance as in exercise plus they suffer with separation problems so I don’t think we shall be putting our names down any time soon:snorky:

Tomorrow I have these bulbs to plant, purchased from T&M at the beginning of December for £10.95.

            P1020137.JPG

The delivery was delayed and some varieties have had to be replaced with others of an equvalent or better value as the originals they said weren't up to standard. They also included a voucher code for £5 off my next purchase. There's just short of 250 of 'em. I guess I'll be starting at dawn.

Thanks Verdun I'll give it serious consideration. At the moment I have to use two reel extension leads for my strimmer and it's a nuisance trying to move about with them.

A random question. I read that nerine bulbs and daffodil bulbs are not compatible. Is that true?

Not mush today. Chopped my diseased plum tree down this morning and burned it, along with some other bits. Built a fourth bay to the compost bin with pallets. Then came in to the warmth of the house.

I always offer to fell any local tree and remove the wood for free, so I get free fuel, the tree owner gets it removed FOC and there's a corresponding reduction in burning of fossil fuels.

I would normally store the wood or give it to my neighbour but with this being covered in fungus I thought it best to burn it. Last year my neighbour took the trunk of the sloe tree that I felled and will make it into bowls or something.

Started sieving through the contents of last year's compost bin this morning. I only have space for a single black Dalek bin, so I fill it over spring/summer/autumn and empty it once each winter - it composts surprisingly quickly, not a perfect system but works ok. Then sorted through this year's seeds this afternoon; local GC was out of seed compost when I went last week (!) so no sowing yet, but ready to go soon :snorky:
