              Aloha everyone,

I'm rather late on here as I had to take Barry for a hospital appointment. Some of you don't know but I look after him and help when necessary. This is mainly filling in forms, handling bureaucracy and tasking him around if necessary (he usually gets around by mobility scooter). He has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, is blind in one eye and deaf in one ear and has other physical problems. His father worked for me and died 36 years ago and I've looked out for him ever since. He's quite capable of looking after himself but needs someone to call if needed.

Last year he had his twice yearly eye test and the optician didn't say anything was amiss but wanted him to have an MRI just as a check. Some months later he received a letter from a hospital saying that they have had to cancel his appointment. He hadn't the faintest what appointment it was and there was no contact number of department name. so I told him to ignore it. A few weeks later he got a similar letter giving a cancellation for a subsequent appointment. As the letter had a reference number I told him to take it to his doctor and the doctor looked into it. It turned out to be for an appointment to see a neurologist and the doctor got the details of the hospital for us.

I made the appointment for today and took him to the hospital, two towns away. The journey was good but we had to queue up for a parking space (free for blue badge holders :blue thumb:). We only waited ten minutes to see the neurologist and he was very nice. He then asked Barry why he had come there! We hadn't any idea why, and neither did the neurologist, but Barry did have the letter he had got about his MRI.

The Neurologist couldn't access Barry's scans as we were now in a different county from where the scans had been taken . None of us could understand why he had been sent there when there is a big hospital in his town, in the correct county. After reading the letter he said he thinks he can make a good guess at why he was sent to the hospital. The MRI said there was a gap in his brain and, for some reason, they thought he was in serious trouble. Whereas the gap referred to was what he would expect to be there as that is what would have caused him to be born with cerebral palsy. He had asked all about Barry's symptoms and there hadn't been any change in 40 years. So he said not to worry as he thinks there's no problem. He shall order up the scans and send a letter to Barry about it.

All the worry and hassle for nothing. :wallbanging:

I took the opportunity to take him shopping for things he can't get in his local shop :blue thumb:

I got a little bit of gardening done today.

Keep well and have a great day

              Aloha!

Upsydaisy that’s a lovely hat, I will send your wishes thankyou :)

Shiny, what a waste of time, I had a scan once on my head, four weeks later I had to go for a appointment at another hospital where my specialist was, and guess what........ the other hospital hadn’t sent the scans to my specialist, I was so nervous too . Hope everything gets sorted for Barry’s sake.

Morning all, keep wrapped up warm and be safe :spinning:

                  Aloha everyone,

We have a lovely morning with the sun coming up but snow forecast for this evening. I don't think our snow will be anything like @CanadianLori has as I'm betting we may get about a quarter of an inch. :heehee:

I'm still getting on slowly, but quite well with the gardening. I want to get the mower out today.

I've now finished setting all the quiz questions and we just need to put them onto a PowerPoint presentation. We always do that as some of the people tend to be hard of hearing and can't always hear the questions being announced, although we use a loudspeaker system. Not to self: check the speaker system this afternoon when at the village hall. :blue thumb:

Keep well and have a great day

                  Aloha!

We have similar problems too...a couple of years ago when I was having my 2nd foot fused I was sent to have x-rays before the operation to the other hospital ( just down the road and same health authority)...but when I went to see the consultant he said he couldn't get access to them, had to have more done at his hospital!!!! Madness!!:noidea:

One of our sons met his girlfriend at one many years ago.... so they come with added bonuses !:snorky:

One thing that's popular with the quizzes that I run is the slightly different format. I have 11 questions per round. Teams can work on all the answers but can then cross one out. So they get a choice of 10 out of 11. That doesn't apply for the round they play their joker. For that round question 11 is not allowed and it's always one of the easier answers. :heehee:

                              Good morning,
@shiney you are right. We must still have snow lying about and it is already up to zero Fahrenheit :rolleyespink:

Still dark here so I can't see the snow and now I am going to read the daily papers to see what nonsense the locals and the world have gotten up to and of course, my horoscope. My horoscope, my tarot and my Corrie street are my allotted 3 bits of odd behaviour. Everyone's allowed 3, right? Of course I don't believe that everyone born on such and such a day will have the same fate but it is fun to read.

One thing that keeps me on my toes here is that as I'm sipping on my first cuppa and checking in here, I read about people doing things in the garden. I at first think it must be an old post and then as awareness creeps into my grey cells, I remember that most here can actually do some gardening this time of year thanks to the gulf stream!

I hope everyone plays safe and has a comfy day :)
