Eek. Well I've gone and bought the same as you @sandymac the 450W spectra. Amazon prime so will get it tomorrow hopefully. :hapydancsmil:

I went out to the greenhouse earlier and noticed that all my seedlings have sprouted - tagetes, asters and rudbeckia! Need the light on asap.

Plan your growlight area so it can easily be increased in size by adding another light (possibly at a different height). I have 5x the area I started with.

Thanks @Scrungee Good point. I've got a good area set up in the greenhouse on a big work bench and I can add more to the side of it. I'm wondering if I'll be able to use my heat mat on something else as the lights may generate some heat.

Also now need to look into changing my greenhouse heater to something more economical....

Well a thermostatic heat mat which I got free recently as an apology for crappy service from a greenhouse specialists. But also a plug in thermostatic fan heater for greenhouses. Probably costing an arm and a leg.

I think you have done the right thing ordering the Vipar. My system is old and out-dated now based on Fluorescent lamps. I will be interested to learn how you get on as I intend to get an LED system like that Vipar in the future.

The LED Vipar is much better than the full spectrum fluro's I used to use.
You will be surprised Snorky at how much light this LED unit produces, do not look directly at it
              Regards Sandy

@Snorky85 I like the set up! I see you have reflective wrap. Good idea. It helps utilize every ray of light.

I just finished re-setting up one of my indoor areas. I had to wait for a new heat mat and picked it up this morning and the seedlings, or soon to be seedlings will be enjoying the lights tonight. We're on smart meters. Them smart, not me. They've got me trained to run as much as possible through the night or face a penalty come bill time.

I have two small areas each being 4x4 feet. Enough for seedlings. And then I go back to covering all the tables and any other surface I can find. :)

Ive read that good old white Matt paint is as good as mylar etc. Btw

Mylar sounds sexy and all that but it creases and gets dusty. White paint you just refresh it.

Having said that mylar has its plus points too, easier set ups, tear downs and helps to keep heat in too so different set ups for different situations. :rolleyespink:

@WeeTam I'm sorry to disagree. I kinda think that anything shiney works better than nothing. (And I don't mean @shiney who never gets a glow on :) )... The pic I posted is the inside of a top rated grow tent and I'm pretty sure if white would have worked as well, they would have cut out the cost of silvery/reflective fabric.

And I sure hope those asparagus seedlings appreciate my efforts!

I just had to google what Mylar is!

Luckily, we bought extra rolls of that insulation after rigging out the garage with it. Was easy to cut and slide into the greenhouse glass panel spaces.

Was reading an older thread about the grow lights attracting unwanted attention. I may have to put something in the roof or have a sheeting set up i can use when the lights in use. I thought if i have the lights on from 5-8 then its not too late to be attracting attention.

We do live on a pretty secure site with gates, cctv etc but with people using drones more you never know who might be snooping!

I would not worry about intruders. You aren't growing anything that looks like cannabis so there is nothing attractive to thieves. The CCTV alone will deter any wannabee b&e people.

I do grow some of the stuff that might attract potheads but I have CCTV too, plus electric fencing and a giant frying pan :) Besides that stuff is only desirable for the short period towards the end of their flowering cycle. Some time in October if growing outside. It is legal here to grow 4 plants but I went the etra step to have my federal approval for medicinal purposes.
