    Hi,
Can anyone identify this pot plant for me? It was given to me last weekend, and after a week in my care the flowers are starting to go brown and fall off. I don't know what the plant is, so I don't know how to look after it. I don't have green fingers so would greatly appreciate it if you could help me save my lovely plant. Thank you!

Hello Jo and welcome to GC.

Your plant is a double Begonia, very similar to one I have. It may be that the flowers are just dying having come to the end of their life, but new buds will quickly follow. The leaves look healthy and it appears there are many flowers to come yet. It could be that you have over-watered the plant. Mine is outside but you should have yours on a bright windowsill and keep the soil slightly moist but not sodden. Let it dry out slightly.

Thanks very much Victoria! That's really helpful, I will move it to a brighter spot and stop watering incessantly.

Another tip to help. If the root ball is sodden, tip the plant out of the pot and stand the root ball on a thick wad of newspaper.Keep changing its place until the excess water has soaked outand then repot your plant.
