I use capillary matting if I ever use the small cells.............

Wilko 5 pack Capillary Matting | Wilko

Perki is correct. Agastache are a member of the Lamiaceae family and all members of this family require good light and thus surface sowing.

I m new here regards growing from seed but I wonder do you have a seed swap .I have far too much of seed of the same plants .last year I got the bug for collecting from my flowers instead of just de-heading i let everything seed. I now have a large collection.

I've made a start at sowing this year, onions went in last weekend and are now showing in the prop.
Other than that mostly ornamentals, and not ones I've grown before.
          Sideritis cypria
          Aeonium simsii
Brugmansia "Orange glory", we will see if that comes true?
Cyperus Alternifolius, grown it years ago, good pond plant.
Bukiniczia Cabulica, sown three weeks ago on the greenhouse bench, no prop, and appearing already.:wow:
OH and a few mild chillies.

Hi guys my petunia plants are coming along well but it is getting a bit crowded in there now.
do you think there big enough to go into pots yet? trouble is will they survive in a green house as we are bound to have some more cold spells and I don't have enough space to bring them all on indoors.

            what do you think??

Personally I think they are too small and no I don't think they will survive in an unheated GH.
This is a common problem with starting seed sowing too early....in my opinion that is.:noidea:

Someone more knowledgeable will probably come to your rescue soon:blue thumb:

We just sowed round carrots in a washing up bowl, they'll go into the blowaway greenhouse next week if the weather stays so fine. Tried and trusted, this method gives us just the right amount of lunchbox perfect carrots :)

Do you think I can sow beetroots in the same way already? The plan is to have them in the washing up bowl in the B-A-W greenhouse all the summer, to be harvested when they are very small and nice. I have seeds which promise to be good for "baby" crops.

I know beetroots can be a bit fiddly if sown too early, but would it matter if they are to be grown in the BAW?

                Thanks!

@lowrider69 Your a bit early with your petunia but it doesn't matter everyone who grows seeds gets overenthusiastic :) do you have any closer pictures of your petunia so I can see them better? they look ready from a distance I think I can see true leaves . I've just sowed mine this week

Not sure about your beetroot @Selleri but if it works with carrots its probably worth a go with the beetroot, What's to lose a few beetroot seeds ? you can say if it work then :blue thumb:

Yes they look ready to pot on into Multi Compost , be very gentle pricking them out and always hold the leaf . I would pot them on into 12 cell trays or similar size, when potting on plant them upto the first leaves because some do slightly leggy but nothing to worry about, you will have sturdier plants doing this ( can be done with lots of seedling ) .

And no they are to young to be outside in a greenhouse unless its mild, they can go out during the day and back inside the house at night. When they grow a bit more and temperatures don't drop to much they can stay in the GH , its difficult for me to judge your weather/temperatures its a lot warmer down there than here .

You are going to have to be ruthless with some of the seedling if you can't find room, small weedy ones bin unless they are your expensive seeds . I remember when I had hundreds of petunias I didn't know what to do with them now I just chuck them

When they grow a lot more weeks from now the top can be pinch so you will have bushier / more flowers plants.

Tomato sungold, sweet million and gardeners delight, seriously cutting down on my toms this year!
