    This was in 2115.

    They repaid it within a couple of weeks, including interest, I got £2,300.

    I'm still confused, as 2115 is 96 years in the future.

      I've still got my original copy of "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" which was the book that the film was from.

        Indeed.

        I've got the hard back book. "Blade Runner 2 The Edge of Human" by K. W. Jeter (that was "remainered" in Waterstones over 20 years ago, I think I paid £2.99).

        proxy.duckduckgo.com.jpg

        I've both versions of the original film recorded from the TV.
        The DVD of the latest film.
        A cassette of the music by Vangellis. I must have had that thirty years.
        I saw the original film on its release in the cinema. 1982?

        The orginal film went "in and out of fashion." I've also a VHS video of it I've had for over a couple of decades. It was reduced to £1.99 in HMV. A few years later it was back up to full price.

        I bought my copy of the original Philip K. Dick book in 1968. He died in 1982 and his friend K.W.Jeter wrote the three sequels.

        Dick's story "We can remember it wholesale" was turned into the film "Total Recall" and he also wrote "The Minority Report".

          5.5% overall rise this year.
          Kent police and crime commissioner accounts for 14.2% of that apparently.

          Just what does a crime commissioner do exactly?

          I'm about 5 minutes walk from the Kent Police Headquarters, strangely, there is no police station there anymore.:biggrin: thats 2.5 miles away in the town centre.
          We get helicopters coming and going fairly often, sometimes the odd chinook, why they can use the congested roads like the rest of us is beyond me.:smile:

          The Kent police also have a pretty large place the other side of town, traffic division, they don't appear to have suffered from starvation in the last 20 yrs as far as I can see.
          If they have it's been self inflicted.

            Hello @pete
            ;):smile:

            ROLE OF THE PCC

            Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) were elected for the second time on the 5th of May 2016 in 40 force areas across England and Wales. Every force area is represented by a PCC, except Greater Manchester and London, where PCC responsibilities lie with the Mayor.

            The role of the PCCs is to be the voice of the people and hold the police to account. They are responsible for the totality of policing.

            PCCs aim to cut crime and deliver an effective and efficient police service within their force area.

            PCCs have been elected by the public to hold Chief Constables and the force to account, effectively making the police answerable to the communities they serve.

            PCCs ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible, and are improving local relationships through building confidence and restoring trust. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local and national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime.

            Under the terms of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, PCCs must:

            • secure an efficient and effective police for their area;
            • appoint the Chief Constable, hold them to account for running the force, and if necessary dismiss them;
            • set the police and crime objectives for their area through a police and crime plan;
            • set the force budget and determine the precept;
            • contribute to the national and international policing capabilities set out by the Home Secretary; and
            • bring together community safety and criminal justice partners, to make sure local priorities are joined up.

                  It certainly was!!! If I remember correctly, 16 year old Paris Brown was appointed youth PCC for Kent. Her starting salary was £15k. The job lasted six days :thud: when she was found to have posted racist tweets a couple of years earlier. They certainly do good vetting before appointing people :whistle:
