EF2427FE-D11A-4383-B2B2-5435F2408E94.jpeg I bought two different types of catmint plugs and I’ve been pruning them above two good little buds.

Some are looking great (left) but others a bit leggier with not much signs of buds (right).

How should I prune the one on the right to encourage it to become more bushy? Should I top the top third off the main me on the left, as it’s bushing up nicely!

Pinch back as hard as you like Kriss.....use any 3” or so of cut off stems as cuttings. Ordinary mpc will do but grab a bag of perlite and mix some in with it and insert cuttings around the rim of a 9cm pot, water and cover with a polythene bag. New plants will rapidly develop :)

I instinctively put some of the cuttings in a pot around the edge as I had seen this before and gambled it would work for cat mint. Is it necessary to have buds below the soil level or use a rooting compound?

Or can you just stick the stem in 10/15mm deep? Do I trim back leaves to make the little cutting less robust?

Catmint roots very easily. No need for rooting compound You can also lower stems and pin to the soil and they will root. :)

So even though there may not be any visible buds on some stems, you could still pinch back to about to about 2-3” above the soil to encourage new shoots to come up from the roots?

How much sun does nepata need. Do different varieties have different needs?

Full sun is best but partial shade will suit too, in my experience Gary :)
