Hi everyone, i have some aquilegia seeds still in the heated propagator 12 in a pot one sprouted a week ago but nothing else since, never sure what to do in this situation I worry about damping off, also the same with some ridolfia seeds.

I'm not sure a heated propagator is really a good place for aquilegia in the first place, you might find they germinate better at lower temps.

Hi @mazambo , I would take the ones that have germinated out when they have two true leaves and put into small pots, say two inch.
Try not to disturb the compost too much as others may still appear, but I would put the tray somewhere sheltered outside.

PS..... i think you've sown them a little early. Perennials like these do best when sown end of may through to july.

If in doubt about when to sow perennial seeds then follow Mother Nature and sow them at the same time as they would fall naturally.

Thanks @pete & @KFF probably like some other people I try not to ask to much as things may seem trivial but this is why I get confused, these are the sowing instructions on the seed packet, the internet is such a huge place and so much varied advice hence I joined this forum, once again thanks for the advice.

Hi @mazambo , I've read your instructions and they say a min of 15 deg. I would have just put them in a pot in a food bag on the windowsill. A heated propogator is gonna be too warm for rhem. Surely your home is warmer than 15/57 .

Thanks @KFF I'll just switch the propagator off, as for window sill growing :nonofinger: my wife doesn't dust so she can put everything back EXACTLY in the same place, just kidding about the dusting but you know what I mean:heehee:

Personally, although I don't grow aquilegia, I'd have gone down the stratification route and left them outside.
Also I run my propagator at around 25 to 30c so they wouldn't like that

My trouble is I'm still at the "oooh that looks nice I'll get some" stage then find out I'll have to wait 4 or 5 years before it'll flowers

I've waited 30years on a couple of occasions to see a plant flower from seed.
Must admit as I'm getting older that doesn't seem quite such a good idea anymore. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Hi everyone, I'm suspecting not an aquilegia at all, I'm thinking a stray weed blown in.
