Here's the same rose as above two days later...'Waltz time'

It seems to take a couple of days for her true colour to show.

Rosa Felicia was the first of my roses to bloom this season, it began abut six weeks ago. Even I am surprised that it is still alive and doing good. Some 8-9 yrs ago I was sawing away at a trellis covered with euonymus when I realised I had cut almost completely through the main stem of Felicia. First aid and plastic insulating tape came to the rescue. Phew! that was a close one. It's growing over an arch. This year it has put up a few strong new growths from base level, already loads of buds.

Teasing Georgia was my next beauty to bloom. I never did manage to get out and prune it. It is now heavily laden with massive blooms and loads more buds.

Climbing Ena Harkness mingled with Iceberg are doing well. Gertrude Jekyll sundlenly work up and is on its second flush of blooms. Golden Showers is just losing it's first flush of blooms, I must get out there and dead head. Then there are four lost labelled roses that are doing really well, one, a pure white but larger than Iceberg looks good.
Then an old favourite. Old, because it is from the first collection I planted back in 1964. I thought it was, Deep Secret but researching it, Deep Secret didn't hit the market for some years later.

Then What I consider 'THE RED ROSE'. For as far back as I can remember Ena Harkness has been THE RED ROSE. sadly as my goof friend Wise Owl will agree, sadly Ena whilst having all the best pointers, sadly, her neck was weak. Thus causing such a beautiful bloom to bend her head and droop. For a while, I thought that I had lost yet another very special rose. Sadly now, only a single stem exists.

This rose is. My Valentine. I have no doubt mentioned this one before. Seeing it at the local GC. How could I pass it by. My Valentine... My Valentine became my wife and we had a happy 49yrs of married life together. Not only that. Valerie was born on Valentine's day. 14.2.1944 So accepting all of this and then turning to the rose. Truly, honestly IMO. Rosa: My Valentine really is a rose worthy of being in any collection. It's a HT. Strong grower. If a bloom can be classified as perfect, then this one is. It retains it's colour throughout and the blooms last at least 21 days. Thanks for sharing my love of roses.
