I got a small mini greenhouse with just 3 shelves in that fitted on my decking area but now hubby just bought me a bigger walkin one that is still on decking .... I am chuffed with the seeds I have planted ... my first was nasturtiums which was fantastic growers and now I've got sweat peas, marigolds, cornflowers, allysums, and more .... can I still carry on planting my seeds , and I'm thinking of getting couple of tomato plants to put in bottoms of greenhouse ... Also a new grower here but I am limited to the tent style mini-greenhouse (DIY Supplies & Accessories | DIY at B&Q). It gets the sun from the morning until around 4pm. I have found that some of my young sprouting plants get frazzled very easily even when watering regularly.

Any advice on how to avoid this?

I have mostly tried (and failed) at growing courgettes, kale, tomatoes and other veggies.

      (sorry to hijack the thread!)

      Hi,

This time of year its getting too hot for most plants inside such an enclosure unless you have the front fully open, but that will still let the sun directly on to the plants.

So use some of the green sun shade netting or even newspaper to add the much needed shade.

Young plants/ seedlings will be particularly vulnerable to such heat, so place them as low as possible and add extra shading if needed.

If you can put a thermometer in the tent, ideally a min/max type, you will see it can easily get to 30c or well above, which as you have found just fries tender new shoots.

This time of year you can virtually grow everything, including seeds, in trays or the ground without the tent, perhaps just using it to protect the seedlings against the worst of these heavy rains.
Think frosts have ended most parts of the country.
