      Verdun seems to be very reluctant to provide evidence of the aforementioned mankini ........ I seem to recall a similar conversation last year :loll:. I am told that I am good with dogs ( although I've never thought of myself in that way ). Nico knows all Verdun's secrets, I'm sure he would be willing to share them with me :heehee: :heehee:

        It's getting a bit silly now @Upsydaisy . I did manage to reduce the number of pots by four earlier in the year but due to being given, impulse buying and not having gotten around to creating ground space I still have almost 30 pots, baths and sinks to care for. I gave away some of my large pots to try and curb myself but have had to go and buy new pots. I need to have a good think about this soon and make some decisions.

          I know where there are some Bonio treats... perhaps Nico can be persuaded!!!!
          :happydog:

          I even came home with some pots from my Dad's last week, they are nice ones that my Mum had. It wasn't until I came home that I remembered that I was cutting back on pots!!! :thud:

            Ahhhh, @luciusmaximus & @Upsydaisy, I have said exactly the same about pots & planters myself... I'd promised faithfully to not go mad with pots, had given some away to my sister and just kept out the main ones I wanted..
            Have I stuck to my promise? Have I heckers like. I've bought more and brought out ones that had been sidelined. I have over 90 pots and planters dotted about the patios and courtyard of various sizes and still have some to plant up!! There's no hope for me is there... YAY! :yes:

            So, today I'm going to be planting out a Senecio Angel Wings and a couple of planters with my bargain sufinias and Osteospermums. My borders are all full, so I'm adding to the pot collection.. Must admit, I do love to see lots of pots and planters all grouped together... Just as well really isn't it. :heehee:

              @luciusmaximus & @Upsydaisy
              I have lots of plants in decorative pots and over the years have increased and edited out the plastic replacing them with terracotta. Ideally I would prefer all clay pots and am gradually changing them but I can see the advantages of plastic when moving them around. I'm so envious of Monty Don's large matching terracotta pots. Thousands of pounds worth:yikes:
              All my hostas are in large pots which get moved around the borders each year. The ideal pots, apart from copper (a bit beyond my means for the size and amount required) are the glazed pots which I've found the slugs can't get a grip on. Sometimes the pots are more costly than the plants in them but they enhance and outlive the plants so I consider it money well spent.

              My gardening today consists of going out to fill up the green bins with weeds before the bin men come.

                  Spent the weekend getting all the plants in the ground, plus some more that were purchased Saturday, everything is in now, just in time too. We are off to Belgium on Thursday for 5 days to attend a Music Festival.

                    We're "potoholics." Nearly all 12" three much bigger.

                    We've;
                    2 on stepping stones on the lawn,
                    5 on the small patio behind the rabbit shed.
                    1 in a central bed in the middle of the lawn.
                    8 on the new paved area
                    8 on the main patio.
                    6 on the patio steps
                    5 against the fence on our drive.
                    Not including 6 small ones in the troughs either side of the tea-house steps.

                    Err. and I've a yet unused 12" ceramic one in the shed, waiting for another azalea.

                      I have a stoned area at the back of my greenhouse where I have an old builders barrow, a tin bath and several chimney pots all full of plants. I like to see plants in unusual containers. Most of my conventional pots are elevated in the borders to a add a bit of height to the low parts.

                      I've just moved my agapanthus (in large pots) onto the patio so I can enjoy them from the house when they flower.

                        Yesterday I spent the afternoon doing more with the arid bed. Its still work in progress but its slowly getting there.

                        Repotted a couple of agaves that we bought from an auction last year (I went a bit mad and filled the truck with aloes and agaves). The soil mix was way too dense and wasn't allowing for free drainage. Hopefully they will be happier in the new mix.

                        Potted up a couple more tubs, in readiness for the summer - if it ever arrives.

                        This morning, just back from walking the dogs, I took delivery of a skip at 7:30 which means a load of gardening ahead of me for the next few weeks.

                        Then cut the paddock before the chickens were let out.

                        Hoping to sneak a couple of hours of gardening in later.

                          Finally a day without rain here too! I've at last planted out the annuals that I've grown from seed this year that have been lurking in the coldframe for longer than they should have done, and then the cucumbers have gone into their big tubs to fill the space.

                          I dread to think how many pots I have outside; a combination of a small garden with lots of concrete/hardstanding, and the fact that we rent so anything I particularly value I try to keep transportable. There were about 12-15 of them when we moved in 2.5 years ago, it's now probably at least double that, including a climbing rose, a lemon tree and a fig tree. On the one hand we've been saving up for a deposit for a while now and will hopefully be in a position to move in the next year or two...but on the other I'm not sure it'll be worth the effort of emptying the garden!

                                I did a bit of weeding, particular wispy bits of grass in the rockery, dead-headed some roses, pruned some of the quinces against the fennce which otherwise grow too tall and tidied up with the garden vac.
                                This was in between the showers in the morning and the rain this afternoon.
