Too wet to do anything today. Nothing's particularly important anyway.

I check the Met weather forecast on-line. BBC are useless. It's more a "show" than an information service.

      Remember "Diddy Danny Corbett?"

Talk about love himself, with his pointing at the map with both hands, the stupid descriptions of weather conditions, like "lumps of fog," etc., all sorts of attention seeking. His "dress down Friday," nonsense, he always wore jeans on that day.
Still, he got himself noticed and got a good job presenting the weather on New Zealand TV.

I always said he and Moira Stewart would be a good cabaret act.

As she could read the news without moving her lips, he could sit on her lap and be her ventriloquist's dummy.

I saw on the TV weather that it could top 46C :hate-shocked:

          Hi,

It might top 6C here on a good day but will still be wet.

          Kind regards, Colin.

Though originally from the "soft south," we've lived in "The Tropic of Trafford" since 1972, but we have several friends and relatives who live in West London, Surrey and Kent.
In telephone conversations with any of them, if the subject of the weather comes up, they always assume they enjoy drier weather than do we. So whatever the weather, we always say when they phone, it's fine up here.

I've said to you a few times (elsewhere) that you need to move down here.

We quite often have drought and need some rain. Wherever I go to other parts of the country their rain disappears. We could work well together. :heehee: We go to the Lake District twice a year and always have good weather. When we go out walking it quite often rains in the next valley but is sunny where we are.

                Nope!!! :heehee:

Although I do remember Diddy David Hamilton. We used to go to the same club back in the last century.

                    Hi,

Many thanks shiney for your offer but I feel should Bron and I move anywhere the locals would soon tire of our companions Blackie and Gale. :)

We also like to visit The Lakes; do you pop into Haye's Garden Centre at Ambleside? On one visit during a rare hot sunny day I was at the kiosk in the grounds buying tea when suddenly there was a huge bang as an RAF jet just about took my hat off; the RAF do lots of low flying over the lakes but I think this particular one was hedge trimming too. Many years ago whilst in Windermere we decided to go on one of the boat trips across the lake; I think the boat was called "Lady of the lake". First thing I did was to ask the skipper if lifeboats were onboard because neither of us can swim; the second thing was doing what I enjoy; the skipper was very pleased to lift the engine hood and explain the history of the boat; Bron can't take me anywhere? We also enjoyed sitting watching the Beatrix Potter show in the small cinema; there were more adults than kids around us. I don't mind admitting I'm a softie preferring animals to people.

I went up the mountain about an hour ago to find Blackie had been watering our meadow so much he had almost flattened some of it the plants leaning over under the weight of the water; whenever we go out we only have to travel 3 miles in any direction from home to get from under Blackie. It's dark; wet and miserable here but the sun is shining as usual in my workshop.

                    Kind regards, Colin.

                    Rain_001.JPG

I can't even enjoy my wild flower meadow without Blackie trying to wash the lot down the mountain; GRRRRRRR.

Nothing pressing at the moment, I might mow the lawn tomorrow. But I'm going to paint the ceiling of my tea-house. I think I can best describe the reason for it as, "something to do." The ceiling is made from off-cuts of roofing ply from the original build. A "bit mix and match."

I've plenty of paint left over from the 5lt can of Dulux satin emulsion I started on when I repainted the former koi pool filter room. In fact I've a second unopened 5lt can, as these were mixed to a slightly off-white colour of my wife's choice seven years ago, when we were having the two reception rooms and the hall re-painted, but she changed her mind over the colour. So I had to buy some more. It's been stuck in a cupboard in the garage all this time, but it's quite usable.

                      P1020945.JPG

I'll leave the crossing support beams the mahogany colour they are at the moment. Painting it will make it a bit brighter in there when the ceiling lights aren't on. Tomorrow I'll be able to watch the tennis on the little TV in there at the same time..

Each to their own. "Maybe it's something about watching tall, slim, athletic, good looking young women, play with a tennis ball stuffed up their knickers."

                          The paint dries quite quickly.

We're going on holiday for a fortnight tomorrow, so this evening has been a mad dash around the garden to do all the jobs delayed by rain that can't wait until we're back - tying in sweet peas and cucumbers, staking tomatos and dahlias, fixing (ish) the wonky door on the hen house, and mowing the lawn. I'm feeling oddly apprehensive about leaving everything for so long, we've never been away for more than a week before, but a reliable friend is in charge of feeding and watering both animals and plantlife until we're home so all should hopefully be well!

We used to pay our teenage neighbour from the upstairs flat to pop down twice a day and look after things for us, but she proved a bit hit-and-miss. She had a tendancy to overfeed the cats and massively underwater the garden, we came back last summer to fat cats and a very crispy brown garden, so hopefully it will go better than that!

Just the South Devon coast, in the South Hams - my family have been visiting the same area for nearly 25 years now and we're not bored of it yet
