            Congratulaions my friend on such a beautiful display. I see that you have planted in a single row, and topped the compost with bark chippings. Is this your usual practice. Whatever, well done.

            @Mike Allen yes mike I do try to top off with bark as it helps hold the water in and the slugs dont seem to like it to much though it dont stop them all together.
            I planted in single rows and two at the ends and in the centre really due to how many plants i had.
            I had noticed that some of them are by far more bushy then the others not sure why this is as they as had the same treatment.
            I really loved the colors though not sure weather to stick to them or try something diffrent next year.
            really enjoyed the project though
            i,ve only been gardening for around 2 years so its all a bit of trail and error at the moment

                @lowrider69 - seriously - only 2 years? You have done really well with those petunias - the seed is tiny.

                  @CarolineL

                  Yea i was told they can be difficult to grow from seeds so i just researched what they needed and bought some cheap plant strip led lights for a tenner and start growing them in my bed room window sill on some shelving, i think more or less every seed come up started back in early February mind, when big enough they went into my small greenhouse heated with cheap 8 hours t lite candle just to take the edge off the night cold.
                  All my plants are started from seed on my window sill now lol.

                  Just looked after them really but it was very enjoyable watching and waiting to see the tiny seedlings come through

                  So what is your next adventure? If you can do petunias so well, I think you should try some exotics! Or even just plants that are hard to get hold of. I would suggest either going to a flower show where Plant Heritage have a stand and check out their seed offerings, or join a society (Plant Heritage, Alpine Garden Soc, Australasian Plant Soc) who do seed distribution. Get addicted!

                      @Joolz well when I read up on them it said they need long hours of light to germinate and to be at a temp they like which i think was around the 23c but my room was only around 19-20c. buy some cheap plant LED lights for around a tenner off ebay and put them on a timer for around 12 hours a day, keep um damp not wet, I put cling film over my trays of seeds.

                      @CarolineL not sure what I will do next I like the sound of something diffract but I like ones that flower for a long time

                        Those petunias look amazing, not surprised you made the papers, Alan! Was feeling a bit down due to all the rain today and seeing them brought a huge smile to my face. :)
