Wow! They're normally much shorter. Have you been feeding them?

No. I followed your instructions. They are flowering so I'm supposed to dod that when they start fruiting?

That's right. I was wondering whether the fruit had formed yet. You can start feeding after only a few have started to form. You don't need to wait for a lot of them to do so.

Your plants are taller because you have them in much bigger pots than I keep them and they're branching out nicely. :dbgrtmb: I keep mine in smaller pots and they stay shorter with the branches closer together. No problem either way. No need to nip out the tops as they're branching nicely.

If they continue to grow a lot higher I would nip out the tops in August as your season is shorter. It should encourage more fruiting branches.

Thank you @shiney for the heads up. I'll take the IV over to Canadian Shineyland and give them all a feeding later on.

I may do the pinching of my other peppers too. Never done that so I assume you just pick the topmost branch and behead it.

I would imagine different varieties grow bigger, smaller etc and maybe if they have loads of roots popping out of the bottom they could go a pot size up, just guessing here, someone like @shiney or @CanadianLori will probably be able to tell you a lot more than me.

I normally grow mine in 20cm or 25cm round pots. They do grow as big as I want them in this size. I presume the chilli plant will size itself to the pot size?

@joolz68 The purple cayenne could do with going one size up at least. A 3 litre pot would be OK.

The Dulce de Espana is a sweet pepper (good for salads or grilling/roasting) and would do better in a much bigger pot as each fruit should grow to 6"-8".

                      Exactly right :dbgrtmb:

We've been eating our Shiney Hybrids for about a month already. They're an early fruiter. :)

Just saw this now. I grow mine in either pots that hold about a gallon or so. . And they seem happy. This is year 18 for me playing with them.

These are a variety of peppers including 1. Choc douglah, scotch bonnet, reaper, 7 pot yellow scorpion, red habs and a couple others. I have to keep a close eye on these so I can catch them in time to hand pollinate else they have orgies whilst I slumber and I get a variety of mutants. Naughty chillies! 15629710320001181359991.jpg 1562971093896-43681945.jpg 2. Manzanos all by their lonesome except for a few herbs. For some reason manzanos like to be solitary. :noidea:

I use these pots year after year but I am slowly replacing them all with colourful 3 liter pots. Just because I want colour right away. No waiting for summer. I'm on the hunt for collourfull hanging planters now. :)

Had a bit of a disaster with the chillies yesterday got back from my sisters and they were seriously shrivelled from the heat in the greenhouse , I watered them straight away and this morning I had quite a leaf fall from some of the chillies, I've put them outside in the rain for an hour and I think I've got away with it, still on the small side so looking to next year I think.
