My Rozanne has grown somewhat straggly and not so many flowers as usual. Is it too late to divide them this year? And if I still can what is the best way to do it? thank you.

Cindy, I suggest you cut it back hard....every bit of foliage ...then give it a feed. It should regrow and flower well again in a few weeks:)
It is good practice anyway to, in mid summer, to cut back hardy geraniums to rejuvenate their flowering
You can divide Rozanne. I simply use a saw. Again, remove all the foliage first.
However, I would wait now until September and do it then. :)

Ok Verdun I have just cut all my geraniums back hard. I can honestly say without fear of contradiction that it gave me heart palpitations! Im such a wimp! Garden looks a bit bare now but to be fair a bit tidier too. Time for some liquid refreshment to calm me down and it just so happens there is a lovely cold cider in my fridge just calling out my name. Thanks again for the advice.

@Verdun, I was about to post the same question about splitting Rozanne. Normally I do split perennials in spring or early autumn. Is there any real problem splitting one now. I would like to plant one in another location.
            TIA

Hiya Harry.....you can do it now...you will lose flowers now and for the rest of the summer though. You can pull it apart but I prefer to use a serrated knife or saw. Water it in well:)

Cheers Verdun , I'll split it now. I can then get one replanted before autumn. :blue thumb: I also use a pruning saw for splitting.
