Nick, see if you find Geoff Hamilton’s videos. He did a series on how to make plant containers and I got enthused and imaginative at the time.:)

@Perki and @Verdun -Lobelia tupa should get big quick. I grew it until I moved in 2015. Unlike the more common perennial Lobelias it prefers drier conditions. Here in the Cotswolds I used to mulch it with conifer needles and branches - a more solid mulch encouraged crown rot.

One of the stars this year has been my Streptocarpella.............

I was surprised to see blooms on my Eucomis Aloha Lily Nani seedlings as the seed was only sown in March 2018. Not a great inflorescence by any stretch of the imagination and the flowers have only four petals instead of six but that is to be expected at such a young age..........

There was a lot of talk about planting combinations. I crap at it as this shot shows............

Finally, myfirst bloom on my Echinocereus rigidissimus ssp. rubrispinus............
[IMG]Echinocereus rigidissimus ssp. rubrispinus by longk48, on Flickr

It is supposedly happy down to -12°c but I don't test it that much but it was certainly happy in an unheated greenhouse last winter..............

Nice photography skills too Alana :)

Lots of colourful tall stuff here, looking from kitchen, swaying around in the wind and rain now but not being battered and looking good. Think they’re enjoying the rain :)

Thanks Verdun - some summer loveliness out there today:). Lots of butterflies and bees flitting about but not so many dragonflies this year. We live very close to a large nature reserve (Carlton Marshes) so I would have expected to see more.
