    Hi,

Seems Felcos are well liked in the forum, but as we have a habit of misplacing ours too easily ! wondered what folk recommend as a good budget alternative, say around the £10 -£15 mark ?

The typical £5 cheapies from the usual local stores are just such poor quality, lucky if they even work at all, never mind last a week.

Hi @ricky101 I've never had much success with cheap bypass secateurs, but I have a pair of Wolf anvil type that have survived my poor treatment. They are about £10 from Amazon. And of course, my Felco bypass one (about £30 one). Cheapest Felco is £19 but I don't know if it lives up to the name.

I've bought throw away ones in Morrisons, one pair in each greenhouse, one pair in the shed ect.

Think I payed £3 a pair, or something similar, saved me a lot of walking.

        I've got 4 pairs:biggrin:

Also bought a pair from Darlac which are pretty good.

Wilkinson Sword make budget secateurs ....I wouldn’t go too cheap though.
I have had expensive secateurs but I am both heavy handed and inclined to use them on over thick branches. Tendency too to misplace them ....I do things in great haste
Good budget secateurs therefore for me .....once a year or so replacement

A lot of the designs are so very similar you could buy the budget version and replace certain parts. First for me would be the latch as the cheap ones always have a plastic one which is garbage, just buy a replacement metal one off ebay

Try Lidl and Aldi, when they have their special gardening events. I swear by my ancient Felco secateurs but when I have bought other garden tools from my local Lidl they have always been sturdy and reliable. As my neighbour puts it, "Germans won't buy poor tools."

I'd buy the felcos. I am terrible at misplacing things but I always put my secateurs in the same place after I've used them.

One of the only items that I always know where to find them.
