We found these eggs in a pot of miniature Hostas down in the roots. Can anyone tell us whether they are snail, slug or worm eggs?

Sorry they're slightly blurred but my camera doesn't like focusing on white objects :noidea: There were quite a lot of them in a heap. 2mm-3mm diameter.

@shiney if they were in roots and white they could very well be fresh vine weevil eggs..

The eggs turn a brownish colour after a while, but it maybe a bit early but this is nearly time for weevils to lay eggs..

That's interesting @ridgiemum - I've never seen that happen! But do you know that 'she' is also a 'he'? They apparently exchange some sort of 'dart' while mating to decide on the gender...

And boy can they breed - I have seen first hand just how fast they can breed and grow in an aquarium, so would reckon the garden ones are the same.

Hi @ridgiemum well they will not survive just in the sand, so that's ok. The main thing is that if you happen to find them in compost in a pot, shake them out onto the birdtable when repotting. BTW a lot of plants from garden centres have granules of slow release fertiliser in the compost, and if your eyesight is rubbish like mine, you might panic and think everything is full of slugs! Slug eggs are found in clusters and they are pearly white, whereas the slow release granules look more 'chalky' and are normally just individuals. I learned...
