Last August bank holiday I went to my mums house and she was complaining about how poor her lawn was. When I took a close look I had to agree, it was bad and something drastic needed to be done because it was obvious even to someone with no real experience of lawn maintenance that her lawn wouldn't sort itself out, it needed proper intervention. First thing was search the internet for a forum for guidance. Next was do some reading and then start asking questions and posting pictures to assist others in helping to diagnose and solve any issues.

This was the lawn back then. It doesn't look too bad in the picture but it had weeds, moss, bare patches, dead patches, coarse grass, thatch, pretty much everything you would expect on a lawn that hadn't been cared for properly over a number of years.

And these were taken this morning. Again, the pictures don't tell the full story, it looks better irl, but pretty much all the problems have now been sorted. The coarse grass is still an issue in places but that's something that takes time and I'm slowly winning that battle too. Just to give you a better picture of how nice the lawn is, whenever someone goes round the back of the house, the first thing they say is, wow, isn't your lawn beautiful.

And two weeks later, scarified and hollow tine aerated.

I've still got two bins full of top dressing left over from last year, the black sandy stuff, so I'm going to top dress using that mixed with compost plus the soil plugs on the lawn mixed in.
