I'm praying the answer is no but I fear the worst. It had a clematis below it that was doing well then it just turned permanently 20190824_090751.jpg 20190824_090744.jpg 20190824_090806.jpg up its toes last week

Are you growing in a pot as that looks like it has dried out at the roots and the sun has scorched the leaves ?

it will be fine .... just make sure next year you dont let it dry out , down side it happens so quickly, what size is the pot ? and what compost are you growing it in ?

for now just water it and NO feeding as they roots may have been damaged as well with drying out so thay wont be able to take up the food so easily ...

We have all done it .. but most plants will bounce back ...

Thank you @Spruce Having thought about it the pot isn't big enough so Ive got a bigger one. The leaves have pretty much all dropped off giving it a little shake and Im left with the centre spine only. It looks awful but I still want to save it if I can. Shall I cut it back whilst re planting and if so do I prune the wood too? No.3 and grit with a little fish blood bone ????

I would wait till March to re plant and to prune late December see what is growing first as in tight buds ... its gone into survival mode at the moment ... just water for now and no feeding but dont sit in a water tray keep it free draining or the roots may/will rot .... its had a shock it wont want to send out new roots now in August going into September . Compost No 3 is ideal and xtra grit but very early spring ... also in a pot over winter bad frost can effect the roots as they are exposed in the pot so if you can move to a sheltered spot and even wrap the pot in fleece to keep the frost out ..

I know disapointing but thats gardening for you we all have tales of woe !! but the amount of plants I have bought from the sale shelf that looked dead or just about to die so I know given a chance should be ok ...
