Blight inside my greenhouse this morning, the blue stuff is Bordeaux Mixture which should slow the spreading. The two blight resistant plants: "Oh Happy Days" and "Magic Mountain" are unaffected, all the others have varying degrees of infection. I'll keep stripping off leaves as the symptoms worsen. With a bit of luck the remaining fruit will still keep ripening for another 3 or 4 weeks. As far as I can tell Blight spores have blown in through the open roof vents, as it's the upper-most leaves affected directly under each roof vent. Not much I can do about it except maybe have heeded the warnings and applied the Bordeaux mix in advance.

I picked these for tasting before the blight had got in:
      IMG_20190826_110725585~2.jpg
      Marks out of 10:
Sungold 9.5 (Has been very prolific)
      Gardener's Delight 9 - a proper tangy taste
Floridity 9 - (Mrs JWK's favourite - very firm and lovely taste - tendency to split)
Orange Paruche 8.5 (Very similar taste to Sungold but not as big a yield and slightly watery)
Black Cherry 8 - (savoury taste - very slow ripening this year)
Suncherry 8 - (Very sweet and firm)
Oh Happy Days 7.5 - (Good taste for a larger fruit)
      Golden Crown 6 - (Watery)
Magic Mountain 5 - (Bland compared to the others)

Hi @JWK , I have to agree with your top two. Sungold and Gardenérs Deliğht ( from your seed... thank you very much ) , both very prolific this year and tasting excellent.
Sweet Million are also loaded, gave been picking these fir a while but Ii think they're a little too small.
Ildi and Roma ( my favourite ) are just starting to ripen, should get the first ones this weekend.

Tesco's vine tomatoes.... 1 out of 10, they only got 1 because of the colour! Fortunately, my tomatoes are starting to ripen, looking forward to cheese and tomato toasties.

No sign of blight here YET!

Visit to the greenhouse, 1 ripe tomato, a manx marvel, previously bland BUT I must say, that was the tastiest tomato I've ever eaten, gorgeous!

                I'll give that tomato 10!

It seems the more you neglect MM's the better they taste? Smaller fruit yes but the payoff is worth it!

GD and Sweet Petite have been prolific and delicious this year. Honeycombe, a yellow orange variety is good too but Sweet Million will replace it next year.
GD is certainly far better than it has been over the previous 2 years.
Prob been picking tomatoes daily for 3 or 4 weeks...maybe longer.
Not a leaf in sight now...just ripening tomatoes :)
I think Vince is right about treating ‘em with a certain amount of neglect. Low watering and low feeding has produced firm, tasty, tangy cherries and plenty of them. Plenty of foliage too but this has systematically been removed during the summer.

But is that Sungold eaten immediately after picking, or several days later after it's lost some flavour (and possibly split)?

I gave up with Sungold due to splitting, I tried Orange Paruche last year but thought it was tasteless.
This year due to being away all of May I couldn't grow anything until I came back so I bought three plants about 18ins high to go straight into final tubs There was little choice by then. Gardeners Delight is cropping and the flavour is OK not particularly tangy and Moneymaker has only one ripening fruit so far.
The third was Black Opal which after trying a couple of fruits decided to cut it down and bin it!
Even when fully ripe they were green inside and tasteless.

A lot of them will be ripe next week but we will be in France so my neighbour will probably benefit as he will be looking after them!

I'll look through others favourites on here for next year and give something different a try.

Yes they were all picked and tasted straight away.

                          Morrisons Moneymaker-type.

This tomato has a dense, firm flesh with that umami taste but is slightly less sweet than the crunchy Morrisons "Grape" tomato.

Still no movement on the cordons ripening but a few bush types showing some colour, at last.
On a better note three packets of seeds from Tomatobomo in France arrived today, quite expensive at 13.50 euros with p+p but some I've not seen elsewhere and a bit unusual.
Peach Blow Sutton, 1917 catalogue from Suttons in Reading, grown from 1892, a peachy matt covering and look ugly in the photo, intriguing.
Olirose, apparently from Mexico, Roma type.
Grappoli D'inverno, bush, could be Christmas Grapes and will complement Britains' Breakfast.
This year, all new varieties to me and as the nights have been quite chilly lately I don't think the flavours will be anything to write home about when they are ripe but with these new ones even more to try out next year.
One favourite will make a comeback...Ailsa Craig, the best I've ever grown.......so far.

Picked the last few toms from my early sown Red Alert bush tomatoes yesterday, grown in polytunnels in Morrisons ex-flower buckets and every single tomato on them has ripened. My original plan was to put the pots outside when it was warm enough, but what with blight alerts and having so much room in 3 tunnels I didn't bother.

After a very late start, I'm happy that tomato harvesting has got underway!

I'm picking JWK's Gardeners Delight from which I will be saving seed as I will with the Manx Marvels, I'll also save some seed from an unknown variety that I got from the local convenience store (it was rather nice!).

My one Big Zac is getting big despite my neglect.
