Hi @Inca-Bo and welcome! Well it definitely isn't dead because the leaves are still green, but it is pretty heavily infested - I can't say from the pictures whether it is mealy bug or white fly (white fly normally sit on leaves and fly off when disturbed, mealy bug form horrible fluffy mess on leaf buds). If you want to stay organic, there are some emulsion oil stuffs you can buy in Wilko and spray on. Otherwise just a general pesticide - again from Wilko for cheapness.

Possibly Pete - but whatever they are, there must be a lot of them! I have had bad aphid infestations before (not me personally...:)) and never seen lots of shed skins like that.
I would still suggest spraying since it's presumably a little sucking pest

Thank you both for your help. i have already sprayed it with a pesticide about 2 weeks ago and nothing has changes as yet. the white stuff wipes off and feels very greasy. when i first saw them they looked to be dead and didnt move when i touched them. they still look the same now. BR

If they haven't changed, and you haven't seen any little dead things (ie with legs...) then it might be something like scale that looks less animated - or you may just have dealt with it! I'd use a wetwipe and clean them off as much of the plant as you can be bothered with, then check in a few days whether they have come back
