    @CarolineL
    I have grown it from seed this year and have several plants in pots at the moment flowering nicely. These are in a mix of MPC and garden soil. I was looking at them tonight and thinking about planting a couple next weekend. I can well imagine it not liking heavy clay, my concern though is hardiness. As this describes it as tender Robins Salvias also here SAGITTATA | Unlimited Perennials This site Arrow Leaf Sage (Salvia sagittata) in the Salvias Database - Garden.org says hardy to -12°C and needing excellent drainage.
    I wouldn't risk it in heavy clay. I agree about the foliage, but I really like the flowers.

      Thanks @NigelJ - have you any pictures of the flowers please? The ones I have seen online look impossibly blue. I am on reasonably light soil (as far as I can tell with all the builders' subsoil in the mix) so may chance it next spring.

                  No that one is outside and is entering it's second winter outside. It didn't start to flower until November. I have cuttings in the greenhouse though.

                    That's impressive - do you think last winter was fairly mild?

                    @CarolineL Last winter was mild only a couple of frosty mornings and a couple of colder periods in February and March. The late cold periods where when the S corrugata lost it's leaves, that was why no flowers until November whereas the cuttings in the greenhouse flowered May/June.
                    So far this winter is also mild.
                    This garden does suffer from cold east winds though.

                      @NigelJ of course - Devon - I should have noticed in your profile. But I will certainly start chancing a few more salvias now that I am in south wet (sorry west) Wales.:)
                      I love s. argentea but I suspect it will hate the moisture here.
