Not so much cleaning as deodorising.

My daughter had somebody in her car today (she's a driving instructor) whose personal hygiene was non existent. The car has leather seats and she's tried a few things to get rid of the odour but it's not shifting. Any ideas would be much appreciated please?

      Saddle soap for cleaning.

However it sounds more that a deodoriser or smell elimininator is called for. Perhaps Febreze.

Thanks Mike. :) I'm not sure Febreze will work but I'll put your ideas to her.

Sheal. It may be worth your daughter having a word with a professional valeting service. Leather can be a bit difficult at times.

We had a Volvo estate for a few years and the previous owner liked their curries. Never did get rid of the smell. Similar to folk who eat lots of garlic, they end up sweating it. Hope all goes well.

@Sheal tell her to place an open tub of Bicarb of soda in it and lick it up for the night and it should absorb the smell as long as she wiped all he touched as well, I use baby wipes on the inside of my car . Or maybe she could get a leather spray from the supermarket most of them sell leather cleaner these days as so much leather furniture... Hope it works

An excellent suggestion. Bicarb is brilliant in the fridge for absorbing any odours too.

@Sheal - AutoGlym Leather Cleaner, and AutoGlym Leather Balm/Feed; not the cheapest going, but they work really (really) well.

@Sheal Not sure if its available in the UK, but for similar things here, I uses two products from a US Company called Leather Honey. First their cleaner, then their conditioner.

                    Hope this is of help.

That's what I always used on my motorcycle clothing and now on my leather Celica interior. Like you say its not the cheapest but it is the best in my opinion.

@ThePlantAssassin - if you have not tried their Polar Blast and Polar Seal on the outside of your car yet, I can strongly recommend it.

Oooo not heard of that. Sounds lovely though. Just checked on ebay and they sell it but blimey averages at £28 each.....gulp. Does it smell as nice as it sounds Sandy Ground?

Thanks everyone! :dbgrtmb: I've put these ideas to my daughter and I'll let you know the outcome.

The leather is black so she has to be careful that anything she uses will not leave any residue, it's a high end company car.

So distressing. My grandson has just bought a brand new Honder. Showing it off to some friends, one guy spilled a can of drink all over the seats.

Slightly off topic. The number of people, especially students I see getting into cars wearing rucksacks. Folk don't seem to care about themselves or others anymore.
