Almost completely correct. There was a ruling from the EU on the quality and shape of fruit (think it was in the late 1990's). They did rule that 'Class 1' bananas must be of best quality with no abnormalities. The British press, as a laugh, talked about the absurdity of how to interpret it and mentioned 'straight bananas'. This became a Euromyth. The European Commission in 2008 ruled that the original rule was no longer in effect. The myth continues!

These type of myths were promulgated from the original nonsense of what was intended to be good rules that were worded badly. The myth about the British Sausage having to be called an "emulsified high fat offal tube" came from this but was simply a bit of fun in the TV show 'Yes, Minister'.

Good morning @Jenny namaste my dear friend bless you ,it would be an honour and a privilege to sit with my good and learn'ed friend @ARMANDII ,I am sure between us we could iron out the arrogance and immature behaviour which is seen in the House of Commons most of the time and remind those in privileged positions that they are only there as as representatives of the public who put them there in the first place:old:;)

I'd better get off my soapbox now :heehee:;):blue thumb:

After working as a Consultant in EU legislation and Appeals for over 15 years for 5 Crown Court Judges, and supposedly retired but still subject to conference calls, my first instinct would be to :runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills: because it would be, after working with 5 very wise, realistic and world weary Gentlemen, for whom I will always have the greatest respect, the Job of dual Speaker would be a great drop in quality for Woo and I to work among such imbecilic morons that sit on the green seats on both sides of the House and I don't mean that in arrogance. While I love our traditions of ceremonial posts and ceremonies there are too many usless ceremonial "Jobs for the Boys" costing Millions a year that I would scrap. But, without joing the Mutual Admiration Club" working with Woo would be one of the Paradise jobs that are so rare as to be almost non existent, but I have been lucky enough to had had 2 of those jobs in my working lifetime.
Going on the illusion that Woo and I were insane enough to accept such a insane offer, I think we might start off by electrictrifying every chair so that any MP shouting any abuse, harrumphing, or sleeping would get a new "hair style".

The Parliament Bars would raise the price of drinks that would make them think twice after enjoying the privilege of cheap drinks and meals at our expense, the ability to decide for the themselves how much of a annual pay rise would be removed leaving the decision to Woo and I.:nonofinger::heehee: I'm sure Woo would come up with some methods of putting things right in Parliament .
But, in my case, Be careful of what you wish for!!"busted":heehee::heehee::heehee:

Good evening @ARMANDII I think that we could manage even if we shared the salary:heehee:
Mr Bercow receives a salary of nearly £155,000 a year.
This means his retirement package is believed to be one of the most generous in the country and will pay him £38,000 a year when he retires.
As the Speaker’s pension is index-linked, the pension goes up with the cost of living and does not require contribution from the recipient.

Just as an aside this thread is very controversial, sensitive, and "dangerous to courtesy" because of it's Subject
@wiseowl. Well, he won't be going to the Job Center when he retires. He'll also get someone to write a book on his Parliamentary shenanigans and go around as Blair has by going around charging thousands give lectures/speeches at Dinner Parties. He might even charge Restaurants/Pubs on how to shout "Ordurrrrrr, Ordurrrrrr". Plus, now that he has announced his retirement he is now free to misuse, and abuse, his remaining time, by speaking out, campaigning against BREXIT while still Speaker.

He’s just an obnoxious turd that will undoubtedly make millions from speaking and books and bad mouthing MPs.

I hope the next one is in a position to at the very least command some level of respect.

LD have just alienated 52% of the voting population. Perhaps someone should point out to Jo that it is customary to act on the instructions of the electorate and to see how things go - before you ask the electorate if they have changed their mind.

Looks like the GE will be between Boris - leave; and the Jo - remain. I'm not sure what Labour's position is, but then neither is Jezza.

Mind you all this academic - 31st Oct we'll be out anyway :blue thumb:

Well, for the last 3 years we've been seeing the Politiicans milling around and losing what ever common sense they ever had, locked in a mental morass of stupidity and unable to make a decision. Right now, we're in that period where they start changing their loyalties and previously proclaimed policies, jumping ship from one party to another at least once, without really thinking how they will stand in the minds of the very people who will voted them in, or out, of their positions of MP. The main Parties will start making, too late, their official real final stance on BREXIT, while at the same time proclaiming this or that plan is the solution and forgetting that they have been doing the same for years. So we're in a time when the Labour Party has a Leader who believes his in in control but in fact the extremists are running the party, a revival of the Liberal Party who are now arrogantly ignoring the result of a democratic Referendum by declaring that they will negate Article 50, and the Conservatives are in crisis with no working majority, most of the old Conservative Establishment MP's who have long held power in the party having had their Party Whip withdrawn, while a small party of Conservatives are determined to honour the result of the Referendum while all the time suffering political and personal attacks. So, we're in major History changing times where Campaign Fear will reach new heights and intensity and chaos will continue until we leave the EU, and probably after. One way or another there will be, after 31 October as major change in how Parliament composed and run. What we don't need is a Hung Parliament as that will be a continuance of the imbecilic mental state that led to our political state today.

Prime Minister Bercow has decreed that we will not leave the EU without His consent, along with a few of his R sole crawlers.

So there you go, but I'm just wondering, how much is it we pay the EU for our trade deal?
I'd like the true figure not the one on the side of the bus.

I'm just wondering how much counties like the USA, Canada ,Australia, New Zealand, etc. etc. will demand from us every year for a trade deal?;)

As for the lib dems, well, they see themselves as picking up all the remain votes in the next election, due to the fact JC is STILL sitting on the fence, and is likely to be even when an election is called.
At some point:biggrin:, that fence is going to get uncomfortable.
