:hapydancsmil: Welcome to the club! Lovely looking motor, and just the right wheel size to give the best blend between style and comfort. Low miles too, which is great.

If anyone wants a free E type, according to the stories I've hear, there's one going free if you want to pick it up yourself.

This must have happened around 1970. There was an E type being chased by the police (don't know why but must have been something nefarious), through the Yorkshire Dales, and the driver managed to lose them. He drove it into the roadworks at Junction 37 of the M6 (they were still building it) and paid the driver of the digger £50 to bury it. Apparently it's under 60 tons of soil under the bank of the underpass! :rolleyespink:

Told to me a few years later by the driver of the digger. :noidea:

Just back from collecting it, very smooth drive home and lots of gadgets to learn!
Need to try out different driving modes (think it was on Eco) first and get used to an automatic gearbox of course

That story reminds me of one that a digger driver told me a good number of years ago. Under the M62, near Burtonwood Services, they buried an Avro Lancaster!

@shiney yours could be true. If my memory serves me correctly, M6 J37 is the one for Kendal, and would have been under construction around 1970. Back then, I travelled that stretch on a regular basis, and well remember coming to the end of the motorway, and going through Kendal centre before going over Shap Fell on the A6.

If there was an E-Type buried there, it will definitely be no longer regardless of the weight of the soil - those things dissolved easier than sugar!

@Sandy Ground It's definitely true. The digger driver was a customer of mine! He's been under the ground for over 20 years  so I don't think the police will want to prosecute him. :) £50 in those days was quite a lot of money.
