Even after seeing Guy Verhofstadt's speech at the Lib Dem conference, and now how Luxembourg has insulted our country by allowing (arranging) an anti-Brexit rabble yesterday? What benefit do you see from us remaining? Not having a go, just asking.

That's true - and I sort of agree - but the other side of the coin - Bettel had free reign to slag off the UK. If I was Boris, I'd have firmly rebuffed Bettel and made it clear leave was the will of the British people. Being drowned out by protesters would have reflected negatively upon Luxembourg. Boris's absence may also be taken to suggest weakness and unwillingness to confront the criticisms being peddled by those who want our cash - but then does Boris really care anyway? He is going for the 31st whatever. I still think there will be a 'major' break through before 17th. I see that Merkers is starting to get more involved - and it just happens to be that Germany in on the brink of recession.

The remainers are starting to make more noise because they know they are on the back foot.

I think the real issue for them is that they are basing their assumptions on the basis of how people from other countries would react to their stunts - I believe that they think it will scare us, make us think twice and go back to them to ask to stay...... trouble is, they underestimate the British psyche, as doing that to us is more likely to see us come out and say F U EU.

            Factoid:

Luxembourg PM is a sycophant to the EU and here is why he creeps to them.

Total EU spending into Luxembourg: € 1.827 billion.

Total Luxembourg contribution to EU budget: € 0.307 billion.

They get 6 times more than they put in.

Correct, pete, it's where the Gravy train is at the moment.

Well, he always takes a team with him, so I'm sure more than one person was talked to, but Bettel wanted the Headlines in the Papers and the TV.

51.9% of one of the largest turnout of voters ever (72.21% turnout), with 17.4 million voting for Brexit

The other large turnouts that spring to mind are the 1992 general election (larger at 77.7% turnout) where John Major won with just a tad under 14.1m votes, or the following 1997 general election where Tony Blair won by a 'landslide victory' (as it was called at the time) with a tad over 13.5m votes.

So, more people voted for Brexit than did for those two Governments, and the result of those votes was implemented.

It was made explicitly clear on the run up to the referendum that the vote was a 'once in a lifetime' thing, and that the result of that vote would be implemented.

Not arguing with that, FC :) It's just the expression 'the will of the British people' that rankles. It's as false as the promises made by Farage and his ilk before the vote.

And as false as the promises made by Boris since Theresa May announced her decision to quit!

I cannot express how much I enjoyed the debacle in Luxembourg :hapydancsmil: Or Amber Rudds revelations about the full extent of efforts by the Boris cartel to secure a new deal with Europe - it ammounted to a single page summary whilst they were spending "80 to 90% of government time is going into preparing for no-deal".
Thank god that 160000 tory party members could see the light and put that pratt in charge of our childrens futures
