All Prime Minister prologue Parliament during their terms, Red Wing. This is probably the first time that it has become obvious and public why Boris and the BREXITEERS want to do so. I don't see why you judge it to be "despicable" when, for the last 3 years, Parliament has been itself behaving "despicably" with the House obviously wanting to ignore the result of the Referendum in 2016.
We now appear to a Prime Minister, staying within the Constitution, who appears to be determined to abide by the result of the Referendum and having to resort to try to force a Parliament to unjam the mental/political block that has existed for too long. Parliament is itself behaving in a unprecendentedly machiavellian manner by, for the first time in a hundred years, passing Political legislation to stop a Referendum result in a deliberate attempt to override that Referendum.

Brexiteer or not, Redwing, Admin ensure that members retain the high standards of courtesy, and reasonable "language" in any thread and, to be fair, this thread, although controversial, has been consistently well monitored to ensure that has happened. However, throughout this thread, Admin has given some leeway to allow members, on both sides of the BREXIT opinions, to express their frustrations and disgust by indirect "language" that doesn't directly offend to anyone on the Open Forum but does help lower the temperature of the discussion and not create the imbecilic situation that now exists in the House.
However, if you feel that too much licence has been given for members, on both sides, to express their opinions in the way that they have, then please report the thread to Admin. I, myself, would stand back out of such reporting, to maintain the neutrality that GC Admin takes in such matters while having a consensus to reach a decision on the reporting.

Well, it is, pete, but then again it isn't. A bit like our MP's in Parliament, they say, on Oath, that they're supposed to listen and adhere to a democratic Referendum result, but then they say they won't.

Actually, that is incorrect, Redwing, Gina Miller registered in her application to the Courts as an Individual, but in the required Affidavit reqarding guarantees on funding listed a anti-brexit organisation as her major financial supporter. She was required to pay £15,OOO up front, but I'm sure she will get that back from her supporters.

That has been common knowledge for weeks and is another case a Public Figure being used to enter the Media Spotlight in the cause of stopping BREXIT. He, again, is being funded by a group of extremely wealthy "Establishment" Conservative and Liberal MP''s, the majority of the Conservatives being those that lost the Whip. John Major's standing with most of the Public is that they know he likes Cricket, but can't remember what he, as Prime Minister, ever achieved:dunno::doh:

Not for five weeks, when the most important issue facing the country in 70 years NEEDS to be discussed.

It is despicable because he is using the suspension of parliament to further his own political ends. No one voted for a no deal Brexit; that was not what was advocated. BJ is not abiding by the results of the referendum because no plan was ever set out by the hard core Brexiteers. The vote was far too complicated an issue to be decided by a simple yes/no answer. There is still no plan. And leaving without a deal could, probably will, be the worst thing to happen to this country in more than 70 years. That’s why so many people are against it. I do not agree that “parliament is behaving in an unprecedentedly Machiavellian manner” but BJ is. Millions of people and the majority of MPs believe Brexit is truly the worst thing that can befall our country; that is why we are trying to stop it. Or have another referendum with the option to remain

Apparently, anyone who holds a different viewpoint or opinion
The owners and shareholders of whom obviously don't share the belief that leaving the EU will be beneficial. Like the 48% of the 72.21% who voted. And who have just as much right to their beliefs and opinions as those who wish to leave.

Is that a verifiable fact?:dunno: I don't remember him instigating or presiding over a catastrophic shambles or any 'major' (;)) disasters, no, but perhaps that's why his terms of office aren't particularly memorable? Just a relatively decent man (for a politician) trying to pick up the pieces of Maggie's megalomania? I don't remember him leading the country into a war based on unfounded propoganda, either.

Yes there are many people people against BREXIT in any form, but there are many people against staying in as well which is why the Country is so divided. But the facts are that a Referendum was taken and the result was to leave the EU. There have been many arguments to ignore that result such as, "Well, the Man/Woman on the street had no idea what it meant or the implications of leaving the EU", or "The UK can't/won't survive without the EU", "Leaving the EU will bring financial disaster". I don't think anyone, including the BREXITEERS, deny that there will be a rough period while things get sorted, but we will still trade with the EU as the EU needs us as a trading nation and it is a two way street.
But, I think Campaign Fear has, for many people, repressed any confidence that they have in themselves and as a Nation. Brexiteers want to leave for many reasons, some good and some bad, but Remainers seem to be gripped in a state of horror, of having to decide for themselves as a Nation, politically, legislatively, and in global trading, leaving those decisions to a organisation that is, essentially, unelected at the decision level, where because we have our own currency are not allowed to attend EU financial meetings where Europe is concerned, where at those financial meetings where we are allowed to attend we frequently get ignored and overridden by 27 other countries. The fact that the EU has increased it's legislative powers, both politically and trading wise to a huge amount, that the EU has openly stated that it wants to become an all powerful Federation with it's own Armed Services using the resources of the member countries in which, inevitably, those countries will lose all power to make any decisions of their own, seems to be dismissed, brushed away, because of the short term interests and fears that the EU and Campaign Fear has inspired.

I reckon so, Noisette, the first thing he did after not being a Prime Minister was the very noticable thing he did was to head for the Stadium to watch Cricket, as did Theresa May:dunno:

Everyone has the right to their opinions and beliefs @noisette47 :dbgrtmb:...that's what 'they' reckon democracy is all about..yet I'm becoming more and more baffled :rolleyespink:..
So let's say we have a 'second' referendum and what if 51.9% vote to stay and the 48.1% vote to leave what happens then ?..

I don't blame BOJO for proroguing parliament they were all getting no where playing tit for tat in the commons, something has to give and constant 'meaningless' votes was wasting precious time IMHO...

I still say if Boris by some quirk of fate comes back to parliament with the most fantastic deal ever the opposition parties are still going to vote against it even if he promised to encrust their artichokes with diamonds I still feel the result will be the same..No Deal !!!!

And that is the crux of the problem, Lori:thumbsup::love30: The House has failed spectacularly to come up with a BREXIT deal themselves in the last 3 years, have voted 3 times against the deal approved by the EU and brought back by Therasa May. They are now debating to bring back that deal, while knowing full well portions of them would vote against it yet again. They want an extension while having not a clue of what they could agree on as a deal while, again, knowing that the EU has stated that it will not negotiate a new deal and only accept the unratified deal May came back with, so having an extension is in reality a pure waste of time.
But to most of the Remainers that is purely irrelevant because no matter what the circumstances or deal that could be agreed to leave the EU, they are mostly influenced by their own circumstances, short term fears, Campaign Fear, and will not accept BREXIT, the UK having it's own true independence, so they cannot/will not accept any threat to their stability and so dismiss any valid reasons for leaving.

@Redwing , he has actually extended the annual prorogation of Parliament by 5 days NOT 5 weeks.Parliament is always prolonged at this time of year for four weeks anyway during the party conference season.
