Because he wanted to avoid parliamentary discussions. There were cross party calls to not suspend parliament .

Nobody could agree anything, hard core Brexiters voted against May’s proposed deal too.

Well, as loli, has pointed out, for the last 3 years the MP's have become a mental morass of indecision, any ability to come up with a plan that they would all approve to leave the EU. You say Boris has been acting despicably but what can be more despicable than the behaviour of MP's over 3 years using stalling methods and passing politicial legislation . to stop the result of a Nationwide Referendum to leave the EU..........now that is despicable.

I completely agree Redwing they did as it wasn't a deal that got us out completely and left us cow towing to the EU...which is what the majority no matter how small voted for ..

I’m taking a break for now. Nobody on here has changed my mind and probably I’ve not changed anyone else’s mind.

I feel Brexit is a huge mistake and it makes me truly sad. I blame David Cameron for unleashing this monster.

Not a Brexiter, Brexiteer or any such daft term and a bit concerned you would jump to such a conclusion based on my post. I think she’s a pain as she has created an almighty mess that has allowed parliament to forment ill will, paralyse the country and make all arguments circuitous, ineffective and ultimately pointless while ignoring possibly the most important thing - just what the f is joe bloggs and the country going to do when we do leave?!

What would they discuss that they haven't discussed over the past three years? The remain MP's, including Theresa May and Philip Hammond are hell bent that they will do everything they can to stop Brexit. Don't be under the illusion that any of it is to stop a no deal Brexit, as that is utter tosh - they want to stop Brexit full stop.

Believe me, leave and remain voters alike have been called much, much worse....

And how many of them are using tax avoidance tactics at the same time? What of the business that are investing many millions here that we rarely hear about on the TV/radio news because they are too busy doing their bit for project fear?

Well, we could start with him (along with Douglas Hurd) persuading the Maggie's cabinet into signing up and taking us into the ERM in 1990, only to then pull us out of it in 1992 when it all went horribly wrong (as they were warned it would do), costing the UK over £3bn.
Interestingly enough, George Soros made £1bn profit short-selling the pound, and thus being part of the cause of the collapse, and it is he who funds much of the 'remain' campaign from the shadows, including characters such as Femi and one Gina Miller.....

You could go further of course, and mention him negotiating on the Maastricht Treaty -where was the referendum to ask if that was what people wanted?

Or the 'cash for questions' scandal that led to him proroguing parliament to avoid questions following the publishing of the Downey report.

May's proposed deal is not a deal - it is a surrender! It would have left us tied into the EU without actually being able to have any say at all (not that we have much now), and unable to leave until the EU said we could leave.

Much as I cannot stand old Davie-boy Cameron, the blame cannot entirely rest with him. Let's not forget that the Lib Dems were one of the first to call for a referendum, and let's also not forget that he went to the EU prior to calling the referendum to ask the EU to reform, and was met with a flat 'non'. Had the EU behaved differently, we probably would not be here now.

Has anyone heard of a book called Fatherland? I haven't read it, but a copy turned up at work today, and I was stunned at the cover - and more stunned when I read that it was penned in 1992:

That’s the crux of the problem as I see it. “The House” as an entity, does not exist. It can only accept or reject proposals that are put forward.

The vote was close. No “party” won, as there are brexiteers and remainers in both main parties. After the referendum, there should have been an attempt to bring the remainers of all parties alongside, by a cross-party coalition, in order to find a deal. Not necessarily to run the country - the government to carry on doing that ... but to find an acceptable and workable form of Brexit.

This wasn’t done for nearly three years. When May finally called the other parties to help find a solution, it was way too late.

This is the reason we are in the mess we’re now in....
