Because they weren't enough to ensure, Noisette, that we could leave the EU without still being under the EU's legislative and political for years to come and only then if the EU agreed to it.:dunno: All the UK wants to do is leave, become independent, and trade with the EU on a deal that is fair and even handed while trading freely with the rest of the World........but the EU will only recognise the deal that traps the UK into a one way situation of not being able to leave until the EU agrees or we just disavow the agreement and leave under our own steam.....which would be the same as a No Deal Brexit:wallbanging:

I may get shot down in flames for this - but I am struggling to reconcile dressing up for a fancy dress party - 20 years ago - with racism. Will someone explain to me how dressing up as a character from a book is considered to convey the impression that one race is better than another. Are people who go to a fancy dress party as a Bishop considered to offer offence to Christians. I'll say it again - people are far too quick to take offence, where none is offered. Or am I a closet racist? :yikes:

Anyway - must keep to EU subject - so I notice that the EU and Boris are now making overtures to the expected 'break through' deal.

Yes, of course that must be the answer, he did it all in fun!!!

I forgot about that, and of course they also want to drag him to the Tower, behead him, draw and quarter and then stick his head on a Pike...........plus any other threat they can think of!........we'd all take on a job like that so that we could be popular. :dunno::heehee:

I remember that one, Loofah, sometimes Reality and Fantasy can mirror each other.

Well, probably because Racism was more intense in the USA and Canada because of their size and the history of North America. 20 years ago, and before, was the time when people started to recognise that portrayin Black people could be construed as racism. Remember the Blacki and White Ministrel Show that got shelved for the same reason, and the Robertsons Marmalade Jam Jar with the Golly Wog which everyone for decades had thought of it as a Toy for a child...........that was removed for pc reasons as things got too hot from the ant-racism organisations. So many things regarded as innocent were removed from sight as Political and Civil Rights thoughts changed.

You think he did it specifically to offend the middle east... or was he just getting into the character of Aladdin? My mate put a lot of effort in dressing up as the old Lego space man not so long ago so I do hope it doesn't upset Disney or the Blue Man Group.

I wrote ' I don't remember him instigating or presiding over a catastrophic shambles or any 'major' (;)) disasters, no, but perhaps that's why his terms of office aren't particularly memorable? ' Note the wording! That says more about the state of my memory than John Major's Premiership  What would be interesting in this thread is for some of the members who were undecided at the time of the referendum to express their opinion now, and explain how they've come to that opinion. Without being labelled, castigated or bullied by those who do hold decided views on the matter :)

Hi @noisette47 ,at the time of the referendum I voted remain. Now I would vote leave , basically just to uphold the result of the first vote. I know loads of people who would do the same and when they did a poll on local tv a few months ago it said that if the referendum was held again now almost 70 per cent said they would vote leave.

I'm tending to think that even if boris came back with the best deal in the world he still would not get it passed by the MP'S.
There are just so many that want him to fail and of course there are those that don't want to leave.

The MP'S are always going to be the sticking point.

Yeah but they have already sown that one up.
We can't leave without a deal.

And they are determined to never accept a deal.

The only way out is for the EU to throw us out, and they are not going to do that.

No, that's not quite true, pete:nonofinger: Article 50 was activated by Parliament, 3 years ago, and the EU has acknowledged that. So the only way that Article 50 can be delayed is by the UK asking for extensions, as they have done twice, because Parliament cannot agree on a deal. So if by the 31st October a deal has not been agreed and Boris has not asked for a deal then out we go. Boris has already stated that despite the internal legislation "forcing" him to ask for another extension he will not do so. Also he has inferred that if the Supreme Court judgement goes against his proroguing then he will merely prorogue Parliament again, which is quite legal and within the Constitution, and should Parliament try to take him to court again it's still a case of Tick Tock.
The EU has been playing hot and cold over another extension saying one thing then later the opposite........so they're playing a game again.
