9C here but wall to wall blue and very still. It's delightful about 11 am when the sun's spread all over the patio and it has warmed up a lot..

Yes the weather is definitely changing next week, so better make the most of this last burst of summer!
Beautifully sunny here, one of our patios catches the sun first thing in the morning and we always sit out there for breakfast and for mid morning coffee ....it's one of my favourite places in the garden. Luckily our other patio catches the mid afternoon and evening sun, so we are very fortunate .:)

Yes make the most of it Colin, for me it doesn't matter for next week going to have the windows replaced with triple glazing. Already have the frames but they need replacing they're over 30 years old and not very good. Going to have a nice front door with good locks in it.

We're still having a drought and needing to keep the sprinkler moving round the beds most of the day. Yesterday was hot with 77F/25C but cooled down quickly at night. The sun is already shining brightly again.

Last of the hot days of summer 2019 today I think. Although we are very much in drought mode here too, I am sad to see it go.
On a happier note we have rain predicted on and off for the next 9 days:hapydancsmil:. I think this applies to most parts of the country .
We haven't done much watering at all really and agree with what was said on GW last night about tough love...or tough planting, it really seems to work and of course having to seek water and fend for themselves promotes a good strong root system.:dbgrtmb:

                          Have a fabulous day everyone:)

56f early this morning with clear blue skies and the breeze come directly from the South. At this moment the skies are still clear, the temperature is rising and on the brink of 70f, while the warm gentle breeze is alternating between SouthEast and SouthWest, and the pressure reading is 992hpa so it's dropping heralding the rain and winds to come tonight:hate-shocked::dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                              Hi,

Thanks Logan. Yes I'm working flat out because once Blackie returns and starts putting the rain down he won't quit until next year.

Good luck with your windows; you'll be pleased to have them installed but not so pleased with the bill; triple glazing should keep out the weather out including my Blackie & Gale. It's going to look very posh with your front door and what a shame our current society means we need to install bomb proof locks to try to keep the crackheads and alcoholics out.

Our window frames are softwood and over 50 years old; they still look brand new but about five years ago I replaced the double glazed units; I chose Pilkington K glass and it's brilliant; this glass keeps heat out whilst keeping heat in; it's made a tremendous difference to our comfort.

A week ago we had expensive CCTV installed. When I were a kid our parents never locked their doors; kids were taught not to steal and burglaries were very rare indeed; we used to wander in and out of our friends homes without even knocking on the door; we could be trusted but now even MP's are untrustworthy and it's getting worse.

It's been a wonderful sunny morning here; I've done four hours shredding laurels and have just finished; after dinner I'll tidy up then I'm ready to welcome Blackie tomorrow with his forecasted heavy rain.

                              Kind regards, Colin.

                                Hi,

I feel sickened because I've hurt a best friend. I've been working flat out up the mountain shredding laurels spending four hours on the job this morning; I have a best gardening friend I call Soots; she's a lovely jet black young cat who enjoys my company all the time I'm working; I have a bag of cat biscuits in the garden hut and when she appears I always immediately stop what I'm doing to make a fuss of her and give her biscuits then keep breaking off to give her a cuddle; Soots lives somewhere across the lane at the top of our rear garden.

I was raking up debris this afternoon against the wall working under the laurels when suddenly Soots came over the wall at speed only to land with her nose full on to the end of the rake; it happened in a blink and she quickly turned round and jumped back over the wall; I put the rake down and went to a gap in the hedge to see Soots sitting in the middle of the lane; I was about to climb over the wall but she disappeared. I know I'm soft but it upset me because I think the world of my little friend Soots. She's in for some serious cuddling next time I see her and I'll buy her a bag of Dreamies on Monday.

At last the laurels are now lowered and cut well back; the heavy logs have just been collected and all the debris bagged up; all the shredded material is now mulch spread in the garden. There's no let up to all the hard work.

It's a glorious day here and hot by our our standards at 22C which is incredible for this time of the year; two years ago whilst I was making a garden hut it struggled to reach 10C mid summer with constant rain; it's time global warming reached Yorkshire; bring it on.

                                Kind regards, Colin.
