2019 BUTTERFLY and MOTH IMAGES..

I very much like to see that one as most of the other Butterflies has gone from around here, today only 3 seen here

Small Heath (haven't seen of of these for many weeks).

Comma (There were lots amongst the brambles in front of me, but difficult to see with their wings closed).

I headed back to the brambles where there were lots of Commas yesterday (plus a patrolling female Southern Hawker Dragonfly), but nothing to be seen today, so checked out a new grassy area that had been opened up this year and saw

Small Heath



And only the 3rd Small Copper I've seen around the and the village this year, and the first I've managed to photograph (after 20 mins of stalking and I didn't manage to get very close).

 

The local species appear to be separated into 2 areas, those which will feed on ripe Blackberries, and those still only feeding on flower nectar, and flowers are disappearing fast.

Warm, but very windy, so walked along a very sheltered local path that has brambles on the south facing side, if I was to see any butterflies today it would be there. Only one, a Red Admiral with open wings that stayed put as I got closer and closer …

 

Buddleia still flowering well and attracting the odd Hummingbird Hawk Moth, can't get a clear shot, too fast for my camera!

 

So after an intensive search of the internet trying to identify this fly, I finally found out...it was a moth, being very helpful it allowed me to get my camera, tripod and remote triggering setup and yes as soon as I was ready to shoot it flew off, so pre camera image is from my phone. A plume moth

 

As soon as the rained stopped late this afternoon a Hummingbird Hawkmoth descended on the Salvias.

 

Butterflies are a rarity in my current garden so this was a bonus today.
