Can I sum you up as being OK for the common market, when we all joined a common trading bloc, and being against the Maastrict?/or Lisbon? treaties that linked us to common laws, etc?

I'm sure a lot of people, inc. myself, will sympathise with that view. We have a government already, why do we need European oversight?

I can see it both ways, but our Government should be acting in our best interests and this brexit lark is bad for us.

You know the conspiracy theory, don't you? Cameron was in the coalition government with the liberals and he had the ERG-types on his case. He thought if I offer them a referendum, it'll shut them up, and there's no way on earth Clegg/the Liberals will ever allow the Tories to actually go through with it.

At the next election he wins enough seats that he doesn't need Clegg/liberals anymore, so he's in power with a referendum on the manifesto which the ERG won't let him forget.

So he goes through with it as everyone believes the remainers will win comfortably.

      Except he lost!

Cue the political mess the country is in. This is an internecine squabble within the Tory party that should never have been put before us, imho.

I must go, chores to perform.

      I don't entertain Conspiracies theories, Green Knees:dunno::nonofinger::heehee:

I don't think that's correct, as since the result of the 2016 Referendum all the MPs of all the Political Parties have disolved into a pool of mental inaptituded with their own agendas, and that doesn't count the Financial/Commercial organisations that have been involved in the so called "Campaign Fear" Some MP's who's constituents voted for OUT have instead said they will vote against any deal.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

That is reminiscent of my younger days in the early 400 BC period when Plato said of Pericles, talking about the Greek parliament "as I know, Pericles made the Athenians slothful, garrulous and avaricious,"

      Not much changes!

@ARMANDII do you remember when we had that chat with Plato about women in sport?

He was advocating the participation of women in sport for their moral enrichment, but I never understood what he meant by it.

When we have the General Election we, the Electorate, need to ensure we put a couple of hundred egotists on the dole. They seem to forget, they were elected FOR the people, BY the people.

Yeah, even if it was centuries ago, he was well into his sixth bottle of wine and said something like "the reason why women weren't playing Football is that they wouldn't wear the same outfit twice":dunno::whistle::heehee:...............if only he was around to see Womens Football now:love30::love30::doh::dunno::heehee:

Alls I can say is this current era of 'politicians' make Blairs term look positively statesmanlike.

I actually heard Chucka "I won't be beaten" Umunna say on beeb TV this AM that we should have a 2nd referendum as "its unfair on the children & teens growing up now who couldn't cast a vote first time around."

Anyone want to explain some facts regards voting to Chuck?

I couldn't vote against Maggie Thatcher because I was too young, but have had to live with the consequences of her actions with regard to social housing for my entire life.

I couldn't vote against John Major because I was too young, but have had to live with the consequences of his actions with regard to the ERM scandal as well as him signing the Maastricht Treaty without asking the population for most of my life.

Right up to the day of the vote, I swithered, and chose leave on the balance of what I thought was right - and I was really surprised (pleasantly) at the result the following day. Since then, I have increasingly felt that I did the right thing, mostly because of the behaviour of politicians both here and in the EU.

Brexit should be, or should have been, an opportunity for the UK to prosper even further on the world stage but there has been so much bickering and bile internally that the EU had a fairly easy ride of it until Boris appeared; even then, they haven't had it hard.

If our remain MP's overturn the result of the referendum, democracy is well and truly dead. It seems, however, that is the case elsewhere in the EU as well, with the Catalonians having their democratic decision overturned and the MP's involved jailed for daring to ask the public what they wanted.

Democracy only works if the losers accept the result, the elected members respect and deliver the wishes of their constituents and the people paying for it all to happen feel that they are having their voice heard and are allowed to have their say (even if that is protest/demonstration). As soon as you have the authorities using force and/or imprisonment to 'deal' with people who do not conform to the correct way of thinking/voting, you are no longer living in a democracy (Catalonia, France, Hong Kong being three that immediately spring to mind).

From where I am sitting, it seems the 'elites' are hell bent on putting themselves head to head with the working classes because they know better.... it has caused the end of civilisations in the past, and will again if we are not careful.
