    Diane Abbot suffers from type 2 diabetes. During the last election she was very poorly and had to take leave. A political life is very stressful and even though they are out there in public, we don't know what goes on in their personal life. I hope someone is looking after her medical needs.
    I can think of a few right now whom I consider not to be fit to be in office but that is just my own opinion!

      I would guess that if she were in office there would be a permanent medical watch on her. You are correct in saying that Type II is not, in itself, a reason not to have the job but it needs good control. There are about 3.5 million people in the UK with Type II and a large proportion of those are able to work hard and long hours if they take their pills and are careful about their diet. :blue thumb:

        Jeremy Corbyn has absolutely no chance of getting in (thankfully), not least as his party is tearing itself apart. Every day there seems to be another revelation in the papers of either homophobic, antisemitic or just general hatred spewing from his candidates and supporters. It isn't the party that I used to support, for sure.

          In fairness, Theresa May also has Type II and whilst she had her moments, she did not talk some of the utter garbage that Dianne Abbott does. Yes, the job is bound to be a stressful one, but so are many, many others -- being a GP for example is a very stressful job, so would you be happy if your GP prescribed you medication and told you to take twentytwelvth a day?

                  I know it's not her fault but she seems to have a speech impediment similar to some of my friends who, sadly, now have Dementia - mouth and brain don't seem to co-ordinate. :dunno:

                        To be fair, the tories are having a bit of a time with their candidates too. Everyone under a microscope now and social justice must be seen to be done by the masses - ie the uninformed deciding a certain person is guilty, wrong or other :(

                            Well something good has come out of this mess. Being an Euro Immigrant (quick, hide your jobs behind your backs or I might just steal them ;) ) I was advised to apply for a settled status, which I duly did. I got the confirmation last week.

                            Then the funny side hit me- after a lifetime of restless wandering across the globe and several careers I now have a written confirmation that I'm "Settled". It's about time now methinks :heehee:
