@ARMANDII I haven't noticed any of my little green monster seeds sprouting but it's only been about 2 weeks.

I've got to pot up more cannabis seedlings which are in soil blocks, into 4" pots. I try to keep the mess down to a minimum as well. I don't use the table. I used to use the laundry sink in the cellar but I now use the kitchen sink because it has enough room for a whole 10-20 tray and more.

I think, Lori, that those "little green monsters" can take months to show. I think pete said he hadn't had much success with Sarracenia seed sowing which is why he recommended you might want to buy a couple of plants instead. It's one of the reasons I buy Carnivorous Plants rather than sow seeds because of the time involved

      "Trumpet Pitcher Plants
Sarracenia seed requires cold stratification. Sow the seed on to the surface of a soil mix consisting of 3 parts sphagnum moss peat: 1 part sand. The seeds will germinate over a pe- riod of several months, but can take as long as 18 months!"

I've got 24 various Sarracenia, 5 Venus Fly Traps, 4 Sun Dews, and 2 Butterworts and all have been bought in plant form rather than sowing seed as I didn't have the time stratifying etc or, to be honest, the confidence that I would have any great success:doh:

I didn't do what I said I would but, instead, spent two hours pressure hosing around the house after Lewis had cleaned the gutters out.

Good afternoon I have been looking at the 6 6ft fence panel that I put in upside down and after several hours of careful thought and planning I shall attempt to put it in the right way up tomorrow, weather permitting of course;):heehee:

Don't do it by yourself, woo, please as even one panel is heavy and awkward to lift above 6'. You might not only damage the panel but, more importantly, injure yourself.
Careful planning or not, it's safer and easier with two people doing the task.:dunno::coffee:

Hello @ARMANDII my friend I have worked it out and will throw a rope over the branch of the apple tree which conveniently grows over the center of the fence strap the rope round the fence panel and then gently pull the panel up and turn it right way up and then lower it back in to position;)

@wiseowl go on, live dangerously. Tell the little woman you need her to act as a counter weight to help... :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

@ARMANDII I seem to have this penchant of selecting things to grow from seeds that may germinate anywhere from 1 to umpty months. And then I get to stare at dirt for months and even though I've kept it moist and warm, I am not rewarded with seedlings. Maybe I'm testing my patience

No, it's a project that you want to do, Lori, but knowing the details of sowing and growing Sarracenia gives you a little edge while knowing how long it could take, without it putting you off, just shows that you have a great deal of determination.:love30::thumbsup::coffee:

Too wet to do the jobs I had planned so just swept paths, pulled a few weeds out of pots and netted the pond. Cleaned the :sparrow: feeders.

First :hhog: of 2020 has arrived, a 6-8 week baby found on the side garden lawn this afternoon . Currently tucked up in the conservatory with a heat pad and food.

Yesterday was just too cold to do much! The temp didn’t rise above 1c all day, and we had drizzly fog to add to the gloom. I did about 20 mins hand-pruning a small section of laurel hedge, but then my fingers and feet stopped talking to me, they were so cold and numb, so I retreated indoors.

Today I hope to finish that hedge, bundle up the thicker stems for roadside collection, and mow the thinner trimmings for the compost heap. Just going to press “cappuccino” on the coffee machine, before going out to fill the bird-feeders, the woodpeckers are getting antsy!!

I've done 90 minutes of pressure hosing in our mild 48F/9C climate. After a break I shall carry on. :blue thumb:

Todays plan was to scrape moss from the drive and kill whats left but it feels so cold here and my wife decided to stay indoors.

Potted on a tray of aeoniums and took apart an old chicken run that was attached to a shed that I removed last year. I'm now about to cut the wood up to use to start the fire in the wood burner in the outbuilding - should be enough to see me through to the warmer weather.
