Started off at 8c going to 16c, mostly sunny, so a fresh day. Normal for this time of year. We find it quite cool as we have become "Portuguese". Not a lot of shooting off on the distance which starts at sunrise ... not sure when hunting season ends.

 

Gloomy, rainy 9°C, most of today will be spent inside.

Hi,

I wandered down to the workshop earlier accompanied by Blackie. I thought I was ready to tackle welding my first project it being a new petrol tank for the Suffolk Colt mower I fully restored; I've done lots of TIG welding practice on flat aluminium but this morning found I'm useless welding curves. I can be either miserable or I can be happy either way this mornings welds were bad so I'm happy because being positive I've learnt a lot this morning on how not to weld like this; I need to put in many hours practice now learning to weld curves; in spite of the result I've enjoyed my workshop session this morning. :rasp:

First attempt at TIG welding a curve; I'll improve with more practice.


Not a total disaster but a long way yet to go to become proficient. I'm now on another ballistic learning curve but I enjoy new challenges and leaving my comfort zone; this is what I enjoy doing when I'm unable to play out.



This is a TIG welding 2% Lanthanated Tungsten 1.6mm; it should be clean with a point at the end but this happens when it touches the welding puddle; until I improve I think I can be called "Puddle Duck".

 

This afternoon had heavy rain showers.

 

Dry and cloudy till midday, then rain and wind all afternoon.

 

A few sunny spells this morning but rain this evening, just starting to clear, 8C much better than yesterdays 4.5C.

 

A few light showers and a few glimpses of sun. No wind today though, 5C/41F.
