                  Truly some great songs listed. Bringing back many memories.
                  Back in the days of the Beatles. To be honest. I was a cop then and whenever the name Beatles was mentioned. We all shuddered. In London they caused so much trouble, not intentionaly but their fans. IMO. This was a kind of break-away from the love ballards of the time. Now enter the screaming and shouting era. Now, along with so many recordings of the day, these have become classics to our ears..............................compared to much of todays catawalling.

                  Nat King Cole. Great. When Kerry, our eldest was born in hospital. I had Nat singing. When I fall in Love, on the hospital radio. Then I had it played at Val's funeral. Great song, so much meaning, as is all of his songs. Our grateful thanks to all artists who have sung and entertained us over the years.

                  How many remember this christmas song.

                  He's the little boy that Santa Claus forgot.
                  And goodness knows, he didn't want a lot.

                  He sent a note to Santa for some soldiers and a gun.
                  He broke his little heart, when he found Santa hadn't come.

                  I feel sorry for that laddie. Who hasn't got a Daddy.
                  The little boy. That Santa Claus forgot.
                  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  Give over Mike. Dry your eyes.

                        Hi,

                        Thanks Logan; Mississippi is the one that really sticks but another one you mentioned is also up there; Middle Of The Road; Chirpy; chirpy. :biggrin:

                        No such hysteria these days Mike as experienced in the sixties when groups and singers were so good; I wouldn't cross the road to see someone rapping in fact I'd call the police to move them on. :wallbanging:

                        So many wonderful old songs that are played over and over without ever tiring of them; this thread could go on for miles if all were listed and why not they all deserve a plug.

                        Thanks Upsy; yes we're all different :yahoo::) one important thing regarding singers/groups is they crave the publicity and it's only when they gain publicity and fame their world unravels; how many have lived up to the fortune they've made over the years only to end up broke with a booze or drug problem. My works stress brought me down with shingles and it was stress added to me over many years as I gained promotion at work; already in charge of three departments there were very strong rumours I was to be given a fourth department; with over 1,300 electric motors coming through my departments daily we added to the stress by becoming central despatch hub for another six of our factories; I had the stress but not the money to go with it. I got out before I was carried out. :dbgrtmb:

                        Lots of performers handle stress but others turn to drugs or booze; the drummer looks like he's enjoyed a good night's rest? What a tragedy.

                        Here's a corker and a must play at Christmas;

                        I'm sure we've all got a special song that puts us in one place at a certain time; I'm fortunate to have enjoyed all the sixties and many of the fifties too but then I remember no electricity then later when we got modern Radio Luxembourg. I've always liked Englebert because he holds special memories to me and I saw him live at The Batley Variety Club a lifetime ago; I must be getting old. :biggrin:

                        Here's another good oldie we play many times;

                        A more modern one we also like;

                        Enough for now otherwise the day will slip quietly by without me doing anything other than be a keyboard warrior.

                        Kind regards, Colin.

                        Not all craved publicity though Colin, many, many are genuine artists and great composers and lyricists who have chosen a career in making and sharing there creations with us all. Thankfully.

                        Yes all work ,if your dedicated, can bring you down...my job definitely did almost to the point of a breakdown back in 2003. But that's the career path we chose, the only difference is that we don't have the paparazzi chasing us and trying to catch us at our lowest and most vulnerable time ..or on our days off. We all cope with extreme stress in very different ways, sadly some do it to the point of their own destruction.:sad:
