Cleaned out the pond today ,dredged the sludge from the bottom ,replanted water Lilies ,woke up the fish and frogs and did a stocktake.
I only do this once a year at this time so clean and ready for frogs spawn and lots of fish watching through the year..........which is what it’s all about.

Mainly trying to move trailer-loads of muck around, mulching beds, improving soil for planting holes etc. Which is fine until I get stuck in the mudbath that used to be a lawn  OH is getting a bit peed off having to give me a push every time I go into wheelspin mode :heehee: As for the 'lawn'....:mute:

Sorry to read about your health problems @Upsydaisy . It must be very frustrating for you. Hope the painkillers help?

Very pleasant session in front garden this afternoon. Dug a hole down by boundary wall and planted a Buddleja that I had in a pot. Not sure if I like it there, I might move it :noidea:. Cut around one of the planting beds with a hand shears and yanked out more couch grass. Dug another hole in a different place and planted a marsh mallow. Behind it is a large lump of concrete with the base of a statue and flag holder. I was going to remove it but it's a large lump and didn't get around to it last year. So I've left it in situ and today I collected up rocks from around the garden and turned it into a rock pile. I also placed some large slabs around the marsh mallow and another one I planted close by with the aim of keeping the grass at bay until they grow a bit. Removed a plant from the mini bog garden in a sink and, after breaking off a small clump, replanted into the pond. Netted the pond and became absorbed in watching a pale worm like creature eating the algae on the pond side. No idea what it is, I've not seen it before.

Benched it for awhile drinking coffee, listening to the birds and watching two of the girly rats scoffing the suet pellets and crushed fat balls I'd sprinkled on the front a few inches away.

Cold with sunny clear blue skies here today - and for once I wasn't in work for it  Pruned the roses, mulched the beds, washed the propagators, and sowed the chillis and celeriac. Now got a sweet potato and feta tart in the oven; all in all a very good day :)

Congratulations!!! @Snorky85 that's got to make everything so much better :hapydancsmil:

Obviously I won't be doing anything outside for a few months but this morning I finally got the rest of the seeds that germinated and are now mini seedlings, potted up. This morning's count was just over 80 of them now into 3" pots. Mostly hot peppers, some coleus, chives, and whatnot. It took me longer than anticipated because I ran out of potting soil and had to bring a new bag in from outside and wait for it to thaw.

I also pulled everything out of the one indoor growing area to lay the new felt I bought which now fully covers the surface of the heating mat and more. This is where these plants all were placed and I also put back in the 13 cannabis plants, 6 basil, 8 catnip and one lonely oregano. The total square footage of the area is 16 square feet but I have left 1/2'x1' floor area free a container of water sitting on an upturned office waste bin for the capillary feed and another 2'x1' spot for me to be able to step inside to reach the plants at the back. Bit of a balancing act.

I have what I hope are hybrid hot peppers which I am calling a chocolate devil's tongue because the devil's tongue and chocolate douglah seem to have mixed it up one night last summer whilst I wasn't on watch. Brown peppers with that devil's tongue shape. Quite interesting. Hope they stay true to the collected peppers :fingers crossed:

The other indoor spot (ditto above size) only has flats with soil blocks with seeds that have not germinated yet. Oh, wait, that's a lie  - there is a flat of Kelsae Onions that germinated but aren't big enough yet to pot up.

I'm very pleased with how my morning went. Makes up for the freezing day out there :)

Hubby planted 6 pots more of the potted crocus and pruned some more of the holly. I still can't do much because of my lower back, it will take a few weeks to get better. But I'm looking after the chilli seeds that have come up and probably sow the snapdragons and eurigeron.

Roughly around 20 minutes spent scraping at weeds and grasses between the block paving with a wire brush. Got bored with that idea so got out the bird food and benched it for awhile. Ratties eating at my feet, birds singing in the trees and sun shining down :). It's been very mild today but turned very cold tonight, frost on top of green bin by 9.00 pm. Hope the little Wrens will be okay. They're huddled together in usual spot, I just checked on them before getting into bed.

For the hanging baskets, it's a perennial really but treat it like a annual, sometimes the plants will over winter in the gh.
